Noradi
"Xin khào, bạn khỏ hong?"
"Khỏ xin hong ban khao?"
"Hello, how are you" and "you dare to greet me" in Noradi, respectively.
Writing System
Once a character-driven language where complex written characters depicted explicit phonetic pronunciation, Norenia evolved since The Mage War to use the common alphabet. Each letter has only one phonetic sound, and so Norenians have added accents to certain letters to denote pronunciation guides.
Geographical Distribution
Spoken almost exclusively in Norenia. The difficulty of learning it as a second language has inhibited its spread.
Morphology
Noradi is prone to using on the fly portmanteau in much the same way as some hand-sign languages evolve, combining extant words to describe new or specific situations.
Syntax
Unique to the languages of the world, Noradi language is positional, meaning that the surrounding sentence of a word are capable of completely changing its meaning. "Bhan" on its own, for example, might mean 'bread.' Placed syntactically into a sentence as an adjective, however, could change the meaning to "soft," as in "cáth mềrm bhan" (the sand is soft). In that specific example, swapping the two nouns turns "Bhan" back into bread, and in sand's (mềrm) new position as an adjective, the translation becomes "the bread is old" (cáth bhan mềrm."
These one-of-a-kind syntactical/definition relationships and improvisations make it very difficult for non-natives to pick up the language, and often result in difficulties going the other way as well; Norenians who learn Common, for example, find the language transparent and often pepper their speech with wordplay (particularly spoonerism) since it translates the same to their ear.
