Clawdia

Arrival

It happened one dark November night, in those small hours when magic is strong. Claudia had been at her computer, clacking away at the keyboard and diligently writing her novel when a ticket materialized. She didn't know what it was for but curiosity killed the cat, and she was sure satisfaction would bring her back. Taking the ticket in her hand the destination wrote itself across the paper, England, UK.

The time stamp was for the next minute, and while Claudia wondered where she was supposed to board, a light spilled into her office from the wall behind her and the smell of fresh baked goods and the chatter of excited passengers filtered into the room. A man who looked like a cat in a coachman's outfit gave her a little nod and motioned for her to enter. As she entered she didn't notice the coachman's claw gently scrape against her arm.

She explored the train full of wonder, every car had a new delight, and held a different purpose. As the hours ticked by and the train came to a stop over England, the destination on the ticket changed. Kittering Gardens. A place she'd never heard of, there was no country associated with it only an odd symbol of a cat on a shield in a vibrant green. The train shuddered and the car she'd been in split from the main locomotive and took off in its direction. Claudia ran to a window and watched as the world flew past at an incredible speed. She lost track of where the train was now, but that same cat coachman was there with her. It was at this point she questioned if perhaps she'd fallen asleep at her desk.

When the train came to a halt the doors opened and the cat coachman grinned with his sharp teeth showing and in a smooth voice with an unplaceable accent he spoke, "Welcome to Kittering, the home of the illustrious House Felis."

When Claudia stepped off the train it seemed to dissolve behind her. Panic swept through her as people were milling about not seeming to notice the train she'd gotten off. They barely even noticed her. She spun around looking for something familiar. Pinching her cheeks she tried to wake herself up, when that didn't work she put her hands up to cover where her ears should have been. New fear came as her hands roamed her head and found large pointed ears, like a cat's.

The Story Continues...

Clawdia was deposited in the middle of a war against the undead. While she worked hard to keep herself safe and participate she was taken into the zombie horde. When she emerged from the undead at the end of the war clouds began to billow on the horizon as a massive storm blew in. She missed the call to the life boats and was left in the lurch as things seemed to crumble around her. Suddenly a ticket appeared in her hand. The destination was still the symbol, this time she knew it was Kittering's Coat of Arms, and she searched for a wall to stand near. As the doors opened and she stepped inside the coachcat bowed and ushered to to a seat by the window.

The world whized by below her as the coachcats rushed around to make sure she was comfortable, until the car began to decend. The doors opened and Clawdia stepped out onto an island. She turned to argue that surely there was no way this was Kittering! There was nothing here! No one in sight! But the train had disappeared. Left stranded on the island, boats came into view on the horizon and slowly more cats, plants, and pirates arrived. All safe from the raging storm they left behind.

Clawdia The Werecat

Blending In

She is skilled at masking and pretending to know what's going on, or standing off to the side looking too cool to join in on activities when really she just has no clue what's going on. Her wardrobe is carefully selected in order to appear aloof and solitary, just a little intimidating to approach. In truth she's just a shy cautious cat at heart. She enjoys reading, getting lost in libraries, gardens, and sunpuddles.

Zombie Incident

A draw back to not totally understanding what's going on is that Clawdia didn't know when to run. Before the Cat Castle was sunk into the Shallows by Princess Melody poor Clawdia was attacked by a wave of the horde and taken into their number. Her memories are vague but she remembers coffins, wheels, bats, another friendly cat, and a very glittery badger. She has some lingering guilt over not being able to avoid becoming undead and trying to hurt others in Felis, but she's putting that in a box and not dealing with it.

A Touch of Magic

Clawdia found out recently that she has the ability to levitate and fly short distances. Her mixed emotions about the Night Train have left her reluctant to use or show this power. Sometimes if her mood is light enough she will levitate unconsciously, this usually happens while she is reading in a cosy nook somewhere.
