Pieces of Lerten

The Pieces of Lerten are a great treasure hidden away by the great pirate Lerten D Wimbo, which has yet to be found. It still hides somewhere waiting to be found by another pirate who seeks to live up to Lerten D Wimbo.

The Legend of Lerten

Lerten D Wimbo died of old age, in captivity under the Nereids of the Northern Sea. It is said they kept him on one of the Northern Islands, where he was surrounded by all the other pirates of his age during his final moments, as well as many journalists wishing to catch the final words of the Pirate Prince. They were glad to do so, as he revealed something great in those final moments, as someone asked him what he believes his legacy will be:

"What is my legacy? It is not in any action I nor my crew have taken... no, but it will be in the actions taken by you. Each and every last one of you. The great treasures of this world lie hidden somewhere out of view of the mind. Piece them together... you can find them where the world meets the heart."

The Treasure

The treasure that is known as the Pieces of Lerten is said to be more than just gold. They say the treasure itself, split into multiple places, features clues to a grand mystery that Lerten learned on his journey.
Some say this mystery relates to the Gods, The World Court, or the world itself, while others say it is more a mystery related to something more pressing to Lerten. It is also believed there are some enchanted weapons and items amidst the Pieces of Lerten, one to represent each of his initial crew members. It is said that they are befitting the major roles needed in a pirate crew, and that those who find it should have one person who corresponds to each.

Lerten D. Wimbo

Lerten D. Wimbo was a pirate known for his grand heists in the days of plague, when the cities were weak and could do little to resist him. It is said he raided every coast in Totania and gathered a crew of great men and women to help him.
Lerten is often considered to be the greatest pirate to ever live, called the Pirate Prince, and most pirates do look up to him. He is a legendary figure whose name causes all armies to tremble and all pirates to look on in awe.
However, he did not live too long, as he was a Korvian, meaning he had a very short lifespan. It is believed that this is why his name was so ridiculous, as Korvians are culturally known to not name things, so when Lerten tried to mimic a more human name, he failed miserably to make it normal.

No one knows exactly where Lerten means. Some believe he means a place close to his heart, while others believe he means a place close to the hearts of those he loved or close to the hearts of the people.

The Journies

Lerten's final words started a great hunt for his treasure which is still, to this day, ongoing. Many wonder if he was even telling the truth, but when his crew members died they all swore by it. Even the last remaining crew member, a Dwarf named Fuccinn, swears that the Pieces of Lerten are out there somewhere.
Pirates comb the seas, searching for the Pieces of Lerten, with Captains all over hoping to claim themselves as the Pirate Prince and rule the seas uncontested as Lerten did. However, there are many who warn that Lerten was not a ruler, but instead someone who simply wished to explore, and that one who seeks only to rule could never truly find the Pieces of Lerten
