Phoenix

CW: Dismemberment

Phoenix is one of the eight Mana Beasts, a manifestation of the flame of life that keeps all creatures in all planes of existence alive. It resides in the Flame Plane, one of the eight planes of the Goddess of Knowledge, Sia. It is fueled by the indomitable spirit of all mortals, the willingness to fight and crawl oneself back up even after defeat.

Powers and Abilities

Phoenix's general power is the same as all other Mana Beasts: to bind to a host and grant them his power. The power is like Item Magic, a magic that is not natural, but flows from an external source into the user so that they gain a new magical affinity.

Unlike the Item Magics, however, the Phoenix can decide to leave its host whenever it pleases. Item Magic is bound for life, but the host of Phoenix can return to life, so that would not stop them. Instead, it is only when Phoenix decides to leave or the host doesn't want it anymore.

Phoenix Magic

The Phoenix's power, known as "Phoenix Magic" grants the user the ability to resurrect oneself from any fatal wounds.   This generally only works on battle wounds and accidental deaths. Disease and age can still kill the user of Phoenix Magic.   It also grants boosts to the user's speed, granting them the speed of flames, endurance for they can burn on eternally, and durability, as their bodies can regenerate from nearly any type of attack.

The Mana Beasts

Phoenix is one of the eight Mana Beasts, the most powerful creatures of the Elemental Planes, who can lend their powers to mortals. The other seven are, as follows:
  • M'rak- The Inner Darkness, a smile in the shadows that brings out one's inner evil.
  • Raijū- Lightning Fast Instinct, a Wolf from the Lightning Plane.
  • Kurma- Level Headedness and Responsibility, a Turtle from the Earth Plane.
  • Seraph- The Inner Lightness, a six winged creature from the Light Plane.
  • Charybdis- The Escape of Fate, a gaping maw from the Water Plane.
  • Jormungandr- Accepting One's Fate, a large serpent from the Ice Plane.
  • Tengu- Mischief and Arrogance, a Demonic creature from the Air Plane.
Alongside the powers of regeneration and resurrection, the Phoenix grants other powers to whomever wields its magic. Most notably, it grants control of fire, especially to hosts who previously did not wield Flames as their natural affinity. Wielding Phoenix Magic, they would then get full control of flames, which they can train to its highest potential.   Those who already wielded Flames gain a different type of boon from the Phoenix. Whereas previously, they would have limitations to their flames, as no one but Jinn and Devils can wield Green Flames safely without having their bodies erased by its heat, any who wield Phoenix magic are in no danger when faced with any flames, and can use its strongest flames.   It is said to also give wings of flames to those that wish to have them, granting flight to its host.

History

More often than not, the Phoenix remains in the Flame Plane, taking hosts from the residents there or someone who happens to stumble into the dangerous realm.
Adai the Honored by Jarhed

The Intrepid

Adai the Honored was a Genie who conquered the entire Flame Plane, killing anyone who opposed him. This led to a large exodus of the residents, particularly the Genies and their Jinn children. However, there was one group of rebels.   Led by Bhikhal the Intrepid, the rebels fought against Adai but were eventually captured. Bhikhal wanted freedom for the Genies, a realm where they could have al the adventures they wanted.   Adai cut Bhikhal into pieces, feeding him to his followers. However, Bhikhal's followers only pretended to eat him, spitting him out when Adai stopped looking and praying to the Phoenix for help. The Phoenix came, putting Bhikhal back together and escaping with him.   Bhikhal hid his identity, roaming around the Flame Plane for adventure while also stopping Adai's forces at any point.

Kindling

Two children of Adai, Kindle and Ogonn Ha, arrived in the Flame Plane in 547. Bhikhal found them, alongside their companions, and heard they were seeking out Adai. He tried to convince them of why they shouldn't, but they insisted, and Bhikhal figured it best to at least leave them with the knowledge of Adai's horrible deeds so that, maybe, they would try to stop him.   Adai trained them, sending them through horrible trials. Ogonn made it to the end while Kindle stopped at the second to last trial. With this, Ogonn was made Adai's right-hand man. Kindle, however, attacked her father, trying to hold him off while Ogonn fled. She was unable to, being overpowered and killed by her father.   This is when Bhikhal arrived. He knew that he had been unsuccessful in saving his world before, but he believed the two siblings could do it. So he gave the Phoenix up, passing it on to Kindle and dying.   With that, Kindle and her brother killed Adai, with Ogonn taking his title but Kindle taking on the burden of rebuilding the Flame Plane. Ogonn returned to Totania, while all in Totania believed Kindle was dead. In truth, she had simply become the new host of the Phoenix.

Appearance

The Phoenix is a bird made of fire. While many take this to think it simply controls fire, this is not true, as its body is made of literal flames. Particularly the smaller parts of its body, including its beak, eyes, and talons are yellow flames, its feathers are orange flames, and its stomach and true body are made of green flames.   Due to having a body made of fire, which it can control, it can grow and shrink at will. Normally it is the average size of a hawk, with a wingspin of about 4 foot 7 inches and a height of about 2 feet tall. However, it often grows to enormous sizes to scare off predators and those that wish to bring danger to its hosts or the innocent.
