Only You

The wedding was wonderful. All their Gnome friends came to see it, and Vokini Blant didn't want anything else. It was perfect, getting to spend some time with her now wife, Venssa Elma. Or rather, Venssa Blant.   They bought a small cottage on the west of the Gnomish capital, Lebalos, so they could hear the music from the Bards in Ealla, and so they didn't have to deal with so much sand. Venssa was from the East, so she grew up around sand. Vokini, then, was glad to get her out of there.

They hadn't gone to the cottage yet. Before their wedding, they had stayed with Vokini's parents. Vokini, after all, wanted this moment to be special. Their first night as a married couple.   The smell of their new home was exhilarating, and they immediately got to decorating the place. Venssa pulled out her pride flag, the same one made by Prouder for herself, a lesbian pride flag. Vokini, on the other hand, pulled out a pansexual pride flag.   Venssa looked to Vokini and asked, "Do you think we should hang it out in the open like that? I mean, we're married now, so people don't really need to know that you are attracted to people no matter the gender, right? I mean, you only have eyes for me, right?"   Vokini was shocked that Venssa could ask that, but didn't mind much. She was right in the fact that they were married, and that Vokini now only had eyes for her. But still, she spoke up, "Well it matters because I'm proud of who I am. I don't care if I'm not gonna get with anyone else, that's not what it's about. It's about me being myself. And this is me. A pansexual woman. The woman you married."   Vokini went to go kiss Venssa, but Venssa shrugged her away, saying, "I'm gonna go lay down. Can you finish unpacking some things?"   Vokini unpacked quite a bit that night. She didn't rest a wink, with thoughts of where the furniture should go being mixed in with thoughts of what she could do to assuage her wife's fears. Some thoughts came to her, but each and every one of them that she could think of compromised who she was. She wouldn't accept anything beyond her wife accepting her. That was the simple truth.   That night, they stayed in bed together. Venssa was more warm to Vokini, but Vokini was still worried. So Vokini got together with some friends to ask them for some advice. As she did so, Venssa worried at home. Vokini ended up staying out later than she intended, as the bill was eaten by an Onker.   Venssa, perhaps unsurprisingly, didn't believe this story. Onkers eating a bill was insane sounding, but it was not so insane for Onkers to swarm Lebalos. The pigs loved the streets of the city, and they loved to eat.   But Vokini returned not just with her word. She returned with flowers and a box of chocolate. She told Venssa, "I called out of work for the week. I told your boss you'll be out too. It's our honeymoon, after all. I think you and I should stay in. Enjoy the new house. Enjoy each other's company."   Venssa was furious and just said, "Vokini, you can't just... bring me chocolates and flowers and think that'll fix everything! You were out with someone else, weren't you?"

Vokini placed the flowers and chocolate on the table and said, "I was with my friends. Dorver and Orumin. You remember them."   "I do. They're guys!"   "What does that matter, Venssa?"   "What do you mean what does that matter? They're guys!"   "And?"   "And I'm worried you're cheating on me! You like guys and girls and... how do I know you aren't looking for a guy too? That you didn't just marry me because you wanted me to stay with you while you get with whatever guys you wanted?"   "Venssa, do you think I would ever be jealous of you hanging out with your girlfriends? You were with Klolys and Sasysa the night before our wedding. Do you think I thought you were cheating on me?"   Venssa looked down at the ground, unable to make eye contact with Vokini, "No, but..."   "But what? It's different because of who I'm attracted to? Venssa, let me tell you this. Who I'm attracted to aside from you, that doesn't matter. I've only got eyes for you."   Venssa looked up at Vokini, blushing. In that moment, she felt Vokini's trust. Her love. It filled the air enough that all of Venssa's fears, her worries, melted away. She knew in that moment that she was not only being silly, but was hurting her wife by ever thinking less of her. Just because Vokini was into people who were different from Venssa, it didn't mean she would act on it. Her being pansexual, it was part of her, but it wasn't everything. Marriage, though... that was sharing one's life. Sharing everything. Being together forever and ever.   Venssa smiled, "Only me?"   Vokini nodded, wrapping her arms around Venssa and planting a kiss on her lips. "Only you."
