Thay

A Mageocracy perched atop the steppe that spans the heart of Faerun, Thay's inner workings are a mystery to most outsiders, owing to both their distant, isolated land and the hostility they show towards interlopers. Magical wards see that visitors often learn how unwelcome they are even before meeting a Thayan. They do not extend this same privacy to other polities however, for the Red Wizards of Thay attempt to spread their influence far and wide across the continent and beyond.
