Lester Faye is an unassuming wanderer who mysteriously turns up in seemingly random towns when trouble happens.  No one really knows who he is or where he comes from, messes with a few people, and whatever problem is going on gets resolved to the satisfaction of most people involved.  Lester points people in certain directions, gives them advice, or even some kind of magical item which conveniently turns out to be just what is needed to solve a problem later.  Unbeknownst to most people, Lester Faye is actually the seventh son of Eva, the Goddess of Death.  As such, he has the title of Demigod of Fate, and has powers that allow him to know what needs to happen for things to turn out in specific ways, and he manipulates events to get happy endings.  He's basically the guy from fantasy that randomly shows up and gives seemingly irrelevant advice or assistance that turns out relevant later, or the good fairy rewards people who help them or punishes them for being rude.  Of course, the more he meddles in the affairs of the world, the more his inconspicuousness lessens, and the more people know who he is and what he does.  This comes back to bite him when several villains he helped beat get together to take him down.
