Berengoor Blackthumb, Dwarven Trapper/Rogue

Berengoor Blackthumb is the youngest son of Boliff and Elan Blackthumb. With 4 older siblings, he was often left to his own amusement. Being from a family of miners in Torbin, he became accustomed to the dark tunnels under the Temple of Kolya. Without proper adult supervision, his boredom often found him in places he wasn’t allowed. His skills with a set of lock picks came naturally and quickly. A subject of bullying from an early age because of his slightly clubbed foot, he learned to strike out in the only way he knew how, by stealing prized possessions and setting small traps.   Plagued with a chronic limp from an early age, Berengoor worked hard to prove his worth to the family. He apprenticed with the hold’s trapsmith, helping to keep the tunnels clear of vermin. His knack with small tools and mechanical devices bled into his free time where he was regularly developing newer, more lethal, small traps. Sadly, his mentor fell victim to an especially nasty trap misfire and Berengoor was expelled from the hold. With no better source of direction, he has decided to sell his skills as a locksmith, with limited success.   As part of his punishment/exile the conditions were pretty clear. He was forced to cut his beard and not return until it has grown back. This obvious shame has proven a major stumbling block in his ability to earn trust or find work in any towns so far. To get further away, he journeyed to the deeper tunnels outside of Doat Proper   Berengoor has a strong constitution, above average intelligence, but below average strength and charisma. He tries hard to hide his clubbed foot, but the limp becomes very pronounced when he gets winded and forces him to have a very ungainly gait when trying to run. He can walk at a normal pace without issue but is a slower than average runner.   Wearing a suit of leather customized with pockets to hold tools and small mechanical parts, it is only as silent as studded leather, while also having the extra protection associated with a set of studded leather. Part of his standard gear is a reinforced leather apron that complements the pockets of his standard armor, but even when unarmored, he rarely would b seen without his apron. Often mistaken for a tinker, he takes such a mistake without insult. Not so gracious about any statements that may be construed to be a slight against a disability, he will lash out verbally.   Berengoor currently has a very short brown beard with black streaks in it. He keeps his hair short in a shaggy flattop, just out of his eyes, with the back grown into a short pair of pigtails just long enough to tie up when working on his traps. Both of his thumbs have been tattooed black in the hopes that if he dies before returning to Torbin, his grave may bear the family name.   Not as concerned about stealth, he gives off a noticeable jingle as he walks. He typically wears heavy cloth breeches with reinforced patches and a medium length tunic with slightly fitted sleeves tied up with leather thong at the ankle and wrist. He wears an old knit brown cap with a narrow red stripe. His gear is all branded with a knotted or “broken” arrow emblem. He has a matching small tattoo on his cheek and has been known to draw that emblem in the dust/dirt whenever he places a trap as a good luck charm. He typically carries two daggers, one on his left hip, and the other under his right armpit in a harness hanging from his apron/breastplate, and a crossbow on his right hip.   Berengoor is currently employed by the Cordon Caravaneers and is usually found traveling a supply route with Dallon Farstep.
