The Fae's Peace Treaty
Though it was recorded on paper for posterity and to ensure all parties knew what they were getting into, the Treaty was bound by verbal magic within the Otherworld when each party voiced their agreement.
Document Structure
Clauses
A point of contention between the Humans and the Fae had always been a particular method which both Courts used to make mayhem, raise children and produce offspring. This was done through the kidnapping of Human children and replacing them with Fae children. As part of the peace treaty, Humans agreed that a certain yearly percentage, worldwide, of Human orphans abandoned at birth could be taken by the Fae to be raised in the Otherworld.
Likewise, Fae children could be placed for adoption within the Mortal Realm, as long as it was disclosed that the child was Fae.
Caveats
If the peace treaty is broken with an act of war against the Fae, by any sapient species that signed the treaty, the Fae have the right to retaliate and war may be declared by either side. Any species which did not actively and knowingly contribute to said act of war has the right to declare itself either a neutral party in any ensuing conflicts or to pick a side to ally themselves with during the war.
Historical Details
Background
Before the Fae Peace Treaty, a war waged between the Mortal Realm and the Otherworld as the Queen of the Fae was too late in forbidding the Unseelie Court from entering the Mortal Realm and wreaking havoc on unsuspecting Mortals, causing the deaths of thousands.
However, during the Cataclysm of the Nether, the Fae Queen used the ravaging of Earth to her advantage and promised to return the Dark Creatures to the Netherworld, if the war between the Fae and the Mortal Realm could come to a peaceful end.
A tentative truce was called while the Fae Queen and her people cleansed the Mortal world of the Nether creatures. When, true to her word, Earth and the rest of the Mortal Realm came out unscathed, this Treaty was forged.
