Wardens of Strelish
I swear by the Divinities, I see more Warden ships on that lake than civilian! One of these days, I expect them to try and arrest each other, just to give themselves something to do.The Wardens of Strelish are an international peacekeeping and law enforcement organisation, based on the island of Biiyang in Lake Strelish. In addition to ensuring all boats on the lake follow the laws passed by the lakeside countries, they help guard the border between Ibza Xüfonz and Pris Xüfonz.
History
Groups filling the role of the Wardens have existed since 46 War and the signing of the Treaty of Üniyodh, which ended the Central War. This treaty declared Lake Strelish and the outflow of the River Tsädh to be condominiums, with no single country holding sovereignty. In locations where two or more countries would otherwise have conflicting claims, small groups would emerge to ensure no internationally illegal activities occurred. This changed with the Xüfonz War, in which the Principality of Xüfonz tore itself apart and brought in all other Strelish-side nations. At the war's end in 71 Discovery, the country was split into two, and an international coalition was set up to enforce the border fairly. This organisation later had its jurisdiction shift from the border to the lake, which in the Treaty of Biiyang had been designated a condominium. This group, now calling themselves the Wardens, set up a base of operations on the island that the treaty had been signed on. Varrzaxadh, who owned Biiyang, agreed to lease the island to them in support for the lakes protection.Operation
From their base on Biiyang, the Wardens command a veritable fleet of boats, with which they perform daily patrols of Lake Strelish. Vessels will always sail in pairs, and will be staffed with Wardens from multiple countries to ensure fairness in actions. Those members not in boats will be on Biiyang or in the various port cities around Strelish, doing training drills, keeping lookout for messages and hazards, or handling the legal affairs of the organisation. The sailing Wardens will regularly pull alongside boats they see as suspicious to ask for their legal documentation and plans. If the documentation is illegitimate or they provide unsatisfactory answers to questioning, the boat will be escorted back to its home country. If a boat refuses to stop or slow down for the Wardens, an alert will be sent calling for reinforcements, and actions will commence to forcibly prevent the boat from leaving the area until a highly ranked Warden arrives. Depending on the severity of crime being committed, a criminal will be escorted to their home country's authorities, or taken directly into Warden custody to face a Court staffed with equal representation from around the lake.

Any adult is welcome to apply to become a Warden, but few get in. Care is taken by the leadership to ensure an even representation for each of the 6 countries of Strelish, and only the best and brightest will be accepted if a position is available. Applicants are expected to be fluent in both Vaitsärriishal and Sheu Zarnag, knowledgeable in law, and either physically fit or proficient in magic.Sword and Chainmail by stronytwoichmarzen
Conflict
By its very nature, the Wardens of Strelish only enforce laws agreed upon by all Strelish countries. This has been complicated for most of their existence by the ongoing disputes between Ibza Xüfonz and Pris Xüfonz, who have claimed each other's territory since the Xüfonz War. As such, they rarely agree on anything, making it difficult to keep peace. At various times the Wardens have been accused of being biased towards one country or the other, and that they even consider applicants from both often infuriates the two.Fireworks by davidgarry
I love that quote at the beginning by the fisherman. I can just imagine the tone of voice used. It made me laugh. XD This is a great idea for a law enforcing organisation. :D The section about conflict seems as though it has a few story hooks there, too... :)
