Order of Reu

Mages. Wizards. Counselors. They go by many names. They can access the Realm of Forms to make the impossible possible. Though they are bound by certain natural laws, the Order of Reu are wonder-workers and teachers who seek only to serve.

Structure

The Order of Reu is led by the grandmaster, who dwells on the island of Kitra, within the Monolith. The grandmaster is responsible for convening the White Council, the governing body of all wizards. The White Council is made up of the masters of each academy. Academies exist throughout the lands once united under the flag of Edinniae. Students in the academy study seven subjects, later choosing one in which to specialize.    These subjects are:
  1. Alchemy
  2. Astrology
  3. Healing
  4. Letters
  5. War
  6. Divination
  7. Music
Those who show aptitude for accessing the Realm of Forms are invited to the tower of the academy to study further the art of magic. Not every academy has its own tower, so usually the student is sent to whichever tower is closest. As repositories of wisdom and knowledge, the academies have escaped much of the carnage following the fall of Edinniae. Even though the Magic War led to some general distrust of wizards, the Order of Reu has in large part provided the glue of society, preventing the social order from collapsing altogether.

Public Agenda

To serve the empress and the kings and queens of Edinniae, as well as their heirs.

History

Founded in the year 30, in the midst of Ayesha's Dragon Wars, the Order of Reu began when a shepherd named Reu from Kal-Zerah gained powerful insight into the Realm of Forms. He drew seven disciples to himself. One of them, Ocran, would later fall to sorcery during the Dragon Wars.   The Order of Reu has been mostly male, a counterpart to the mostly female Anunaki. Together, the Order and the Anunaki were instrumental in driving the dragons from Tiranon. However, Reu refused to allow his wizards to be used as weapons during the Conquest Wars. This incensed Ayesha, though she relented in deference to Reu's long years of service as her counselor. Reu eventually vanished, taken up by a cloud into the bosom of Azura.   The Order met its greatest challenge to date in Tundros's Rebellion which led to the Magic War and the fall of Edinniae. When the capital city fell, the other cities of Edinon began to fight among themselves, and the greater empire suffered. The fall of the empire has been blamed largely on the wizards and sorcerers of the Magic War. Though the general populace still respects wizards, that respect is tinged with fear.
