Game of Oor

I've gotten to the point where I zone out during work, the conversations are bland, mostly about tribal gossip,

'did you hear the Arashid's tribe leader has entered for the annual game of Oor? That game only belongs to us! The elite Azaadi!'

and other types of gossip like

'I hear Yaraad has got a new maid, I wouldn't trust her if I were you!'

The Lamentari have always described the outer provinces to be treacherous inhumane animals, they are nothing like that at all. I have not seen the kind of Azaadi which they speak of, they even in fact mingle with them.

History

Oor is so old that people do not know where it originated from. However, the game has been found near burial sites in the Azaad region in recent times on accident by a Lamentari mine so the game is said to be centuries old. Over time players have used the game in order to tell futures and omens.

Execution

  • The players roll the dice, the player landing on an even number is associated with the black counters and goes first, the latter player will be the yellow. If both players land on even, the two players must roll until either dice settle on an odd.
  • The players begin on the bottom of the board. Each player rolls two dice each turn. The sum of the two die determines how many spaces you move forward.
  • The player who reaches their home base with all their counters is the winner.
  • Each player can land on a blank side, if this is the case, they miss a turn automatically.
  • Each player can 'eat' each others counter and the player will have to restart from the bottom.
  • Two or more of the same coloured counters at the same box is regarded as 'safe'.
  • Double digits means you will have to miss a turn.

Components and tools

  • A 10 by 10 board checkered board.
  • Two die, only containing numbers 1 and two and two blank spaces.
  • Cup to throw the die.
  • 10 black counters and 10 yellow counters

Participants

The game of Oor is tradtionally reserved for the tribal leaders, however in todays time it is largely played by the general aristocrasy.
Oor requires exactly 2 opposing players, these two players pick either the black side or the yellow side.
