Tieără split off from
Earth almost two thousand years ago, when the wolf goddess
Maălobă arrived there and brought magic to it. Since then, their histories have been diverging more and more, so that by now, there is little in common between the two worlds other than the shape of the land.
In 60 CE, the Wolf appeared in Camulodunum, in the Roman province of
Britannia, shortly after it had been burnt down by the Celtic Iceni tribe. She eventually managed to make peace between the Celts and the Romans, offering the two sides
magical souls, essences which would give them the ability to use magic.
Bredainnă, the country which was once Roman Britannia, now almost entirely consists of
mages. Magic is commonly used in everyday tasks, and it's taken for granted that people can communicate with each other in their dreams, and can instinctively tell when others are lying.
However, although mages are the norm, there are still those who cannot use magic.
non-mages, often called "the Soulless" by mages, are discriminated against, often not even being considered human.
Tieără still exists parallel to Earth, its alternate-history cousin, although the two have until recently had very little contact.
