King Sel'Torinah Wavestrider (a.k.a. Sharkslayer)

Sel'Torinah Wavestrider is the current king of the Light Shoal sea elves, and has reigned over Qiel'Sedar for the past 250 years.

Peak physical condition, even though he is king, he leads by example and can often be found on the battlefield leading his troops in major battles against Clotgush.

Unlike most sea elves, Sel'Torinah favors a long-bladed spear; his has a metal shaft and a blade of star coral, which he has named Nal'Furin, which means "Wave's Fury."

Personal history

Sel'Torinah was born to the Wavestrider family, the son of a priestess and military commander; once he came of age and began his military service, he distinguished himself in battle after battle, proving himself a capable warrior, clever tactician, and selfless protector. He rose quickly in the ranks, and became a commander like his father.
The defining moment of his military career and the ultimate reason for his election to the throne came during the Battle of the Yawning Trench, a terrible sustained conflict that lasted a little over two weeks. Short on supplies, and cut off from the rest of their army, his division had suffered heavy losses against a force of sahuagin lead by a four-armed mutant riding a huge shark, and they had another force quickly approaching from the rear; they were caught in a pincer, and there were no reinforcements coming. Knowing that this was their last stand, Sel'Torinah rallied his troops, and instead of hunkering down and waiting for the enemy to come to them, he ordered a charge head on into the mutant's line, he personally led the charge, determined to lead by example and die with his men and women if he must. The sahuagin were caught off guard by the aggressive tactic, and their line broke; as it did so, Sel'Torinah met the sahuagin mutant and his shark mount in direct combat, and he slew both of them singlehandedly. This shattered the morale of the sahuagin, and the force scattered, allowing his division to join up with a faltering sea elf division that had just lost its commander. He quickly took command and reorganized his combined forces, which allowed better control of the battlefield; the enemy could not gain ground afterwards, and the battle ended a few days later, and Sel'Torinah was awarded many accolades for his heroics.
The prior king abdicated five decades later, and the Parliament elected Sel'Torinah the new king; since his election, the Light Shoal sea elves have experienced increased prosperity and gained much more territory in their war against the Kingdom of Clotgush. While he is popular among the people, some outsiders are not as enamored; he has significantly decreased the trade of star coral, and many outsiders feel he is hoarding it in order to drive up prices. The Tarinenvarni clergy appreciate this move, so he is well liked by the more devout sea elves.

Well educated, he was a studious young elf, and excelled in military history, which many attribute to his brilliant strategical mind.
