Werewolf Abilities and Vulnerabilities

Basic Abilities:

  -------------------------- Potential Rewrite-------------------------------------------- All Werewolves have these abilities:  
  • Animal Form - Werewolves can transform into a wolf form (typically larger than a natural wolf). This is involuntary during the night of a full moon. On other nights it is possible with increasing difficulty on nights furthest from the full moon and nearly impossible on the night of the new moon. Transformation can take anywhere from half a minute to several minutes, depending on the werewolf, during which time they are vulnerable and distracted. When in animal form the werewolf does not have their full human mental capacity and though smarter than a natural wolf they are prone to more instinctual, animalistic behaviors.
  • Enhanced Senses - Werewolves have remarkable senses including better sight, smell, and hearing.
  • Rapid Healing – While not instantaneous, werewolves heal from injuries faster than most ordinary humans. The exception to this is injuries from silver weapons or fire, both of which heal at normal rates.
  • Wolf Nap- Allows the Werewolf to sleep comfortably anywhere.
  • Night Vision- Werewolf has the ability to see in the dark.
  • Pack Howl- Werewolf has the ability to communicate with pack members from long distances away.
  • Non-verbal Pack Communication- Werewolves have the ability to use eye movements and body movements to communicate with other pack members as if they are communicating verbally. These communications are not readable by non-pack members.
  Prime Abilities: (All werewolves have Prime Level Abilities in accordance with the moon- when the moon is full 100%- Half moon 50%, Quarter moon- 25%)
  • Speed: Run and not Faint- Were is able to run at top Human speeds (up to 9 mph) indefinitely without exhausting.
  • Dexterity: Were has honed Dexterity: Time seems to slow down for Werewolves giving them the ability to avoid attacks. (Except when fighting vampires) They can standing jump 8-12 feet horizontally easily.
  • Strength: Were has increased strength. They can lift large objects that would normally take 3-5 humans in concert with little effort.
  After 100 posts Werewolves can boost their Speed, Dexterity, or Strength to the next level. After 500 posts they can boost a second to Apex level or increase a second category to Veteran Level. Additional level boosts will be granted after 500 posts at the GM's discretion.   Veteran Level: (Skill is based on the moon- Full Moon 100%, Half moon 50%, Quarter moon 25%)
  • Speed: Were has advanced their ability to run. They can now run as quickly as a galloping horse (up to 39 mph) for an indefinite time without need for rest.
  • Dexterity: Were has advanced their dexterity. Their abilities are akin to an Olympic athlete. Muscles can move at peak performance increasing their avoidance to attacks or make them more agile when they are performing athletic feats. Can go head to head with a vampire. Can standing jump 13-20 feat easily.
  • Strength: Were has advanced their strength. They can now lift objects that would take 6-8 humans to lift in concert by themselves with ease.
  Apex Level: (Skill is based on the moon- Full Moon 100%, Half moon 50%, Quarter moon 25%)
  • Speed: (Must have Veteran level speed) Were has highly tuned their muscles to run at Apex levels. They can now run at speeds above 40 mph without tiring.
  • Dexterity: (Must have Veteran Level Dexterity) Were has highly tuned their muscles so that they can control every aspect of movement. Were can easily complete acrobatic feats: Jumps flips, (Aerial stunts normally completed with wirework in the movies). They can standing jump 20-30 feet easily.
  • Strength: (Must have Veteran Level Strength) Were has highly tuned their muscles for lifting and strength actions. They can lift objects that would normally take 8-10 humans to lift in concert by themselves with ease.
  Advanced Abilities: (Werewolves can choose one upon creating their character. Once you have posted 100 posts you can choose a second. At 500 posts a third can be chosen. Additional powers will be granted after 500 posts at the GM's discretion.)  
  • Lunar Gift- Any benefits from the current moon phase will remain active during daylight hours when they are in Human form.
  • Vicious Intimidation- Allows werewolf to release a howl that causes non-werewolves to feel fearful and potentially faint from fear. In Human Form- they are able to push intimidation against non-werewolves to convince them to do something or avoid something.
  • Resist Moon's Call - Some werewolves are capable of resisting the call of the full moon and remain in human form.
  • Primal Instincts: Were is able to control their emotions- especially temper and moods. Allows the werewolf to not have their emotions played with by Psychial's mood manipulation or Vampires Impressions.
  • Animal Control – Some werewolves can control other wolves and canines.
  • Lunar Blessing- Werewolf maintains their bonuses during all moon phases at 100% when in werewolf form.
  • Sixth Sense- Werewolf is able to sense the abilities of others- such as if they are a vampire or a psychial on sight and smell.
  • Nature sense- Werewolf is in harmony with nature and can feel oncoming storms and the emotional temperature of the local wildlife.
  • Hybrid Form- Most werewolves can only transform into a full animal form, some werewolves can transform into a half-wolf half-human hybrid capable of standing on two legs and even speaking in a guttural voice.
  • Rapid Transformation - While normal transformation into their animal form usually takes half to several minutes, some werewolves can transform rapidly in the space of just a few seconds.
  • Werewolf Empathy - Some werewolves can control not only their own animal nature but those of other werewolves. Requires the werewolf already has Resist Moon's Call.
Vulnerabilities: (All Werewolves have these vulnerabilities)  
  • Silver - Werewolves are vulnerable to silver and can be burned even from skin contact. Wounds from silver weapons act as wounds to a mortal, heal slowly, and can be fatal.
  • Fatigue - It takes a great deal of energy to transform between human, animal, and back into human form. Werewolves are extremely hungry immediately after transforming into animal form and this often makes them dangerous as their instinct is to hunt and feed. Conversely, when they transform back into human form they are usually exhausted and must sleep for several hours, after which they will wake and again need to feed.
  • Feralization - Werewolves that transform too often or give in to often to their animal nature run the risk of turing 'feral'. This can follow them into their human form affecting their features, voice, and behavior. It's said that if not addressed this can even result in a werewolf being unable to transform back into human form.
  • Fire - Like silver, fire heals more slowly than other damage and can even be fatal if the werewolf does not escape the flames.
  • Infectious - Werewolves are infectious. Their bite will almost certainly infect a mortal, turning them into a werewolf themselves on the next full moon. Scratches from claws might infect another, as can the transfer of blood, though vampires are known to be immune.
  • Vampire Control - Werewolves are particularly susceptible to vampires with the ability to control animals.

  • Beast Heart - Some werewolves are in harmony with their animal heart and have some empathic/predictive senses (e.g. changes in the weather, fear, weakness, danger).
  • Hybrid Form- Most werewolves can only transform into a full animal form, some werewolves can transform into a half-wolf half-human hybrid capable of standing on two legs and even speaking in a guttural voice.
  • Rapid Transformation - While normal transformation into their animal form usually takes half to several minutes, some werewolves can transform rapidly in the space of just a few seconds.
