Betrayed Yokudans - Bazaar Region

Foreword

The Betrayed Yokudans are Yokudans who were Betrayed by the God Tava when fleeing the Yokudan Continent. There were already yokudans who lived on Thras however when the Yokudans left Ancient Yokuda they had inadvertently broken a contract they had with the Sload, leaving the Sload open to start collecting Yokudan Souls. Tava had brought most of the Yokudans to what is now Hammerfell, but she had diverted part of the fleet towards Thras in an agreement made with the Sload so that they would leave the bulk of the fleet alone until landfall.

Culture

Shared customary codes and values

• Magic isn't hated or feared, however casting magic at others without their consent is a death sentence.
• Offenses that are punishable by death are: Rape, Stealing, Aggrevated Assualt, Murder, Religious conflicts that lead to physical fighting.
• Wasting food is considered a capitol offense, since the Yokudans have a history of being poor at farming. When the new Sload Overlord took over he changed the way crops were handled and now crops are abundant. This has led to many of the Betrayed Yokudans in the Bazaar actively supporting the new Sload Overlord.
• The Bazaar used to be governed by a council of elders before being taken over by the current Sload overlord. Survival and building a community that works together was a core tenant and any slight to this core tenant was punished harshly - to the point of killing the offender outright without trial for major offenses (Rape, assault, murder.)
• The Betrayed Yokudans do not focus on lineage as the redguard do.
• The Betrayed Yokudans lost a lot of their pride, swept away by the need to survive. An exception to this is that the old beliefs and history are upheld and kept in tomes, a reminder of the people they once were and what they can be again once they escape.

Dress

The Betrayed Yokudans dress are inspired by egyptian/northern African inspiration. A lot of Adornments are made from the ancient Orichalcum ore brought from Ancient Yokuda or found in deposits on Thras. Ceremonial Blades are typically worn at the side at all times.

Gender Ideals

Males and females are regarded more or less as equals in Yokudan Society, and you will find both in any profession.

Courtship Ideals

Courtship has changed since becoming permanent residents of Thras, and much like Skyrim courtship is fast and not steeped by too much tradition or ritual. Since death can come at any time on thras, this way of courtship is the most prudent way to find love on Thras.
