Kahbe Ghavani
Khabe Ghavani founded the Order of the Serpent in 1,698 of the Dawn Era, after the Great Plague had ravaged his homeland of Lokmei for six long years. He had served a long life as a paladin, traveling in out-of-the-way villages to combat disease and crime alike, and had encountered the plague in a previous, smaller outbreak. Never had he observed the venerated gods to do anything about it.
Khabe had a tremendous crisis of faith when the plague began ravaging the country once more. He threw himself into healing and caring for those afflicted, hiding his inner turmoil. Eventually, he concluded that the gods cared nothing for his people, having either long since forsaken them or having been apathetic from the start. Rather than falling into despair, he declared that the people of Lokmei - and indeed all the world - must forge a new path for themselves, without relying on the gods. He discovered like-minded people, ranging from holy men to doctors to common laborers, and formed the Order of the Serpent to help pave the way for an independent world.
He died eighty-one years after founding the Order, surrounded by the friends he had made in his time.
