Tera’s appearance is dominated by her very curly hair, which is bright silver-white and glows faintly (enough to be indiscreet, too little to be useful…). When it is covered, as it almost always was when the group first met, Tera is a diminutive and unremarkable figure in a hooded cloak. Most recently, she has been forgetting to hide her hair more often than not: uncovered, it is clear that she has grey-blue eyes, faint freckles and a tiny silver ring in her nose.   Her wild magic is powerful but unpredictable. Sometimes its effects amuse the group- the time that she accidentally encased herself in chocolate in the Feywild for example- and at other times it is extremely dangerous.   Tera is struggling to come to terms with the effects of her magic, and as she deals with its consequences her decisions have become increasingly risky. Tera desperately wants to protect people (and particularly her companions) from harm; the tension between this wish and her magic’s dangerous effects is, as the group can see, tearing her apart. She has almost died on multiple occasions due to her recklessness in combat, which is increasingly becoming a matter for concern.   Tera is fundamentally kind, and deeply lonely. Although her family are apparently unable to read her emotions at all, she wears her heart on her sleeve and it is clear to the group that she is struggling. Mocking (however kindly) her unpredictability and the wild magic’s effects visibly hurts her feelings.

Trivia:

Tera is always dressed well, and loves colours and clothes. She is never seen wearing purple.   Tera is particularly uncomfortable with Mujina since this mysterious antagonist broke into her house (disguised as Tera herself) with her kobolds, destroyed Tera's possessions and stole one of her dresses. As yet, this invasion seems to have served no purpose, except to cause Tera distress.   Tera firmly disliked Setsuna Moon, but has remained careful not to threaten the hag directly. Tera particularly dislikes the fact that she bent a bargain with Yunhu, Lun and Kyto to amuse herself.   Tera does not have a good relationship with her neighbours. She turned one of them into a tree, and made bubbles come out of the water fountain before she gained control of the wild magic.   Tera started as a Wild Magic sorcerer. As of session 20, Tera had a dream-conversation with Tsunamjin who offered to re-align her magic as he noticed it was hindering more than helping her. She awoke as a Divine Soul sorcerer.

Contacts:

Miyako Tenshi, Tera's mother
Suketsune Tenshi, Tera's father

Only Yunhu has met Tera's parents and Tera has not told the others what they are like, beyond offhand commentary.

Suketsune and Miyako are very overprotective of Tera, and want her to return to their family home on the Saffron Road. While they claim to love Tera, and to only want the best for her, they are entirely focused on the status that having an Aasimar child brings them. Yunhu knows that Tera has been giving them money from her earnings, but has not been able to do so since she lost her job at the Porcelain Guild.   Leo, Tera's brother

Tera has mentioned her brother, but not much. In front of Yunhu, Tera's parents mentioned that he was being 'tricky, as usual' but Tera has not volunteered details.   Azume, Tera's deva

Tera assumed that she was not a true Aasimar until just before the group met. When the wild magic began, she could feel the emotions of someone else washing over her. Shortly afterwards, she bought a book- Notes on Celestial Transformations- and was surprised to find that she could speak to Azume direct. This was also a surprise to Azume.   Azume is genderless in appearance, and mainly looks like an indistinct bright figure surrounded by white feathers. They are responsible for the wild magic, as they pushed Tera's natural magic into appearing in order to push her out of her mundane existence and fulfil her potential. Tera struggles to be angry with Azume for this, because she knows that they were trying to help. Whether this will change, as the consequences of the wild magic build, remains to be seen.   They informed Tera that the group were brought- 'nudged'- together by Tsunamjin so that they could help to stop the oncoming disaster.

Relationships:

  Thoughts on other group members
Yunhu Bai
Tera and Yunhu have thus far had a mixed relationship. Tera likes the fact that Yunhu is very calm, and surprisingly gentle for a buff man with a big sword.   Tera trusted him to visit her parents with her without causing a fuss. Not long afterwards Tera lent Yunhu fifty gold - a very big risk for a woman who is careful with money.   Their relationship was soured when Tera's wild magic caused her to be confused. When she came back to her senses, Yunhu had his arm around her throat, and refused to believe that she was not possessed until the group intervened. Tera, ashamed and distressed, avoided him until Yunhu apologised, explaining that he had fallen victim to possession magics in the past and had overreacted.   Since then Yunhu has been kind to Tera, and has been careful to avoid judging her when her wild magic is problematic. He often gives her Vulpix to hold, knowing that Tera loves to feed the cloud fox unnecessary bacon and clearly finds the Familiar's company comforting.   Ling Lun
Tera was particularly concerned about Lun; not, contrary to popular assumption, because of his cocky attitude, but because she expects that he will dislike her kind as much as Thousand's many other Infernal-adjacent beings do. When it became clear that this was not the case, she was very relieved. She does in fact like Lun very much; he does not judge her harshly for the effects of her wild magic. She also doesn't mind the fact that he's easy on the eye. Lun wrote a poem about his favourite of Tera's tea cups; she has not told the rest of the group about this but treasures the scrap of paper, which is tucked carefully into the pages of her book about angels.   Unfortunately due to her wild magic, Tera has caused direct harm. On the first occasion, she stabbed him due to a confusion effect; on the second, while Charmed by a devil, she knocked him unconscious with a single Chaos Bolt. While Lun has been very understanding, these occurrences have deeply damaged Tera. When she tried to apologise to Lun after the Chaos Bolt incident, he turned it into a joke; Tera was clearly hurt by his attempt to make light of the situation.   Shinzu Michi
Shinzu is, without a doubt, the closest thing Tera has ever had to a female friend. They were placed in adjacent cells in the prison where the group met, and Shinzu was kind to the manic, terrified tiny sorcerer she had only just met. Shinzu has never judged Tera for the effects of the wild magic, and has actively spoken up for her when the group have been critical. She found plants to brighten up Tera's home after Mujina's break in.   When the group first met Gisita, Tera noted Shinzu's interest and takes great pleasure in plotting Shinzu's next move (which is, obviously, to be her fabulous self at all times) with her, out of earshot of the rest of the group: particularly Sekket, who is less than subtle.   Shinzu and Tera shared a tent in Lockbox and supported one another's aims in looking after both Lauka and Fayrol. Tera was envious of Shinzu's close and supportive relationship with her mother, but was delighted to see her friend's home (even if most of it wanted to kill them).   Sekket
It would be fair to say that Tera's relationship with Sekket is troubled. While they are both deeply moral in their attitudes, they come from completely opposite viewpoints most of the time. Sekket's apparent belief in the rule of law over the wishes and rights of individuals makes Tera frustrated and angry, and she is hurt by his disgust with her magic's unpredictability.   Kyto Sun
Tera's relationship with Kyto is a little wary as they are not often on the same side of an argument - he is very practical and occasionally unsentimental in his approach, in stark contrast to Tera. That said, she knows she can rely upon him and trust him with her life.

Gear:

Hosun's Cloak

Cloak, rare, requires attunement.   This deep blue silk cape shimmers and sparkles with motes of magical light. It can be stitched into a dress or a suit, but will attempt to unravel itself eventually.   Effects:
  • Tera has not told the group about the cloak's other properties...

Double-Edged Wand

Wand, rare, requires attunement (wild magic sorcerer only).   This wand is intricately carved from pale wood. It contains two shimmering crystals that fade from light green to purple.   Effects:
  • Tera has not discussed what the wand does with the group, but they know from the 'frosty chicken incident' that it allows her to transfer a magical effect caused by her wild magic onto another creature nearby
  • UPDATE: As Tera is no longer a Wild Magic sorcerer, this item can no longer be attuned to or wielded by Tera.

Innocuous Parasol

Shield, uncommon, does not require attunement   Crafted by Sekket as a gift for Tera. At first glance this appears to be an ordinary folding paper parasol. On closer inspection the frame is metal rather than wood, and it has been cleverly reinforced in such a way that it could withstand a few blows.   Effects:
  • While wielding this shield, you are considered proficient with shields.
