Session 7 - One Minute Later
After their trip to the Feywild, everyone woke up in the Blue Orchid building no worse for wear, both protagonists and all the NPCs who were unwittingly dragged along. Ceronde was with Shinzu, who managed to sneak her out of the building unnoticed, while the others stayed to ascertain what everyone else had witnessed during the trip.
Yunhu woke up next to a guard who mentioned he has a weird dream where he was a moose being booped by a giant mushroom man. The two chatted for a bit about it being nice to be looked after for once. No-one else seemed aware that they had travelled to the Feywild.
Shula woke up with 'what a nice dream' but didn't elaborate further. She thanked Tera for the experience and gave out three passes to the summer ball for Tera, Sekket and Lun, with +1 entry for Shinzu, Kyto and Yunhu. She mentioned that they would need finery to be allowed entry and suggested Hosun the Wearzard, a tailor-enchanter in Umbral Key. She also gave them Meimi's address when they asked if they could speak to her about the dragon dress.
Rou took Tera aside and asked if she had any more of the drug, but she declined. When asked what he dreamed of he says 'nothing', seemingly happy with this, which raised the group's suspicions. He asked Tera to contact him when she could get more Glittering Satsuma and that he'd be willing to pay for it.
The group then took their leave, meeting up with Shinzu and Ceronde. Unsure what else to do with the fey spirit they took her to House Zhao in Green Spires. The group were introduced to Anastri, boss of House Zhao. Ceronde was uncomfortable being in a large city and away from water, so Anastri agreed to arrange passage to Orchestra Forest. While talking to House Zhao, Gisita asked if he could see the sword Sekket had proclaimed to be his masterwork. Sekket reluctantly agreed to this, untying it from its scabbard and unsheathing it. The sword itself was beautiful and well-crafted but seemed to have no overtly magical properties. Somewhat disappointed with this, Gisita nevertheless thanked Sekket. Anastri then offered the group a job; House Zhao was tasked with escorting a dryad from Lockbox Forest to Orchestra Forest, but they were unable to step onto Lockbox territory due to political reasons. She asked if the group would be interested in fulfilling the contract instead. The group agreed, and were told it would take a few days to sort out so to return later.
The group split for a time to accomplish their own tasks. Seeking finery to wear to the summer ball, some followed Shula's earlier advice and visited Hosun the Wearzard in Umbral Key territory for finery. While his prices were well out of the group's range he mentioned that a garment he was working on recently 'got overexcited' and ran away. Since he already re-fulfilled the original client's order, he said that if the group could bring him the runaway clothes he would turn it into a ball-worthy costume for free. Meanwhile, Kyto split from the group to find a secret item stash and recovered his old longsword, Niji. There were shadowy figures keeping an eye on the place who nearly caught him, but they were distracted by the timely barking of an odd white dog. At Yunhu's request, the group all travelled to Iron Spine territory to find House Honghu's headquarters. On the way they spotted a group of drunken soldiers partying in the street. One damaged the wall of a nearby house with his sword, but before the party could intervene a mage in purple robes cast Mending to undo the damages. The group realised that they were following the soldiers at a distance and cleaning up all of their messes. Yunhu recounted more information about this. Because the actual House of the Iron Spine takes part in brutal and traumatic war campaigns, they sometimes arranged for soldiers to have a Night of No Regret, in which they could party hard with all damages and expenses covered by Iron Spine. It was something of a reward for their soldiers, and it was likely those soldiers had just returned from a campaign in The Torn Veil. Proceeding onward the group ended up at House Hongu where they met Jihao Shen, the wheeler-dealer halfling quartermaster. It became apparent that Jihao commands everyone's attention at all times, but then Lun managed to out-charisma him (to Jihao's bafflement). They met Ana Wren, a cheerful dwarf woman and friend to Yunhu. They also stopped in to chat with the House Commander Jin Frost, who grunted a hello and sized the group up. Ana handed Yunhu back his spellbook. He asked her about any recent developments or strange new magics; she couldn't recall but promised to keep an ear out and write to him with any news. After chatting, the group took their leave. The session ended fairly relaxed, with the group retiring to their respective places of rest...
