My Summer Camp 2021 Worldbuilding Pledge Document in Thoughts and articles of a Thessian Sage | World Anvil

My Summer Camp 2021 Worldbuilding Pledge Document

I pledge to write 31 articles over the summer camp period focused on the Bay of Alvania region. I will dedicate a minimum of 30 minutes a day to writing along with another 30 minutes for reviewing and commenting on other's articles.

What world are you working on?

I am aiming to develop, consolidate and create new lore for my primary world of Thessia. Thessia is the world in which my future campaign will be taking place and will also become the core setting for the system I am slowly creating. For now, though the focus is on worldbuilding for the sake of it rather than to properly flesh out portions of Thessia.

Which area of the world(s) are you working on?

My primary focus within Thessia will be the region of Alvania where the last remaining humans have created a new home for themselves. Within that area, I will be dedicating most of the world-building to the Human side of things. However, I would like to develop the local nations that the humans have becomes neighbours of.

How much are you aiming to complete?

I would love to complete all 31 prompts this year. However, my true goal is to get back to the silver standard I have help for the first 2 summer camps. I feel this will give me a good range of lore for my world without meaning I have to dedicate too much time to work to complete it all.

When will you write?

I plan to set aside 30 minutes after work each day to write articles. On top of this, I will use the time in the evening when not spending time with housemates to further develop and create articles for prompts. For weekends I plan to dedicate around 2 hours each day to ensure I keep on top of the prompt list and don't end up lagging behind too much.

Who is your support network

To help with sticking to my writing time I will be relying on my partner to make sure I don't get too distracted and end up doing something that isn't world-building.
For Ideas and the like, I will be looking to the good people of the World Anvil discord community and try to bounce things of them as have them be a fresh pair of eyes to look over what I've done.
Finally, My hope is to find a chapter that I can join so I can continue to develop my world even after the summer camp period has ended. I often lose motivation for my work once I no longer have a goal, and as I am currently lacking a playing group there's not many to consistently share my world with.

Where to follow my progress

If you would like to keep up to date with what I'm doing I have a number of plans that will be put in place during summer camp. These will not only let those who want to follow my progress know what is going on but will also help me as a creator looking to build their audience to consistently update my various platforms.
  • Twitter Follow me at Thessian A. I will be posting when I begin my review and writing sessions along with posting any artwork that is produced.
  • World Anvil I will engage with my fellow challengers in the #summercamp chat where I will look to bounce ideas and give what advice I can
  • Twitch I am moving to a new house on the 3rd and hope to be able to start streaming. If I am I will be streaming both my writing and review session and will be using Twitter and the discord to let you lovely people know when I'm live
  • This article All my articles for summer camp will be logged onto the tracker in the sidebar. Each week has its own table and from these tables, you shall be able to navigate all the mess I put into words. Each of my articles will also have a link back to this one as a sort of hub/reference point
