The Sword of Egra is one of three ancient artifacts of great power that belonged to the last Emperor of Egra. Lost in 5867 along with its companion artifacts, the Sword of Egra is an item that bestows the title and respect of Emperor to its wielder.
Since none of the three artifacts that make up the Mantle of Egra have been found since the death of Egra's last Emperor, the throne remains empty; leaving Egra in a tenuous hotbed of political strife with baronies simultaneously on the brink of war and also combating the chaos of nature and wild tribes of Elves, Men, and Giants within Egra.
