Titles of Indentured Servitude
Within the The Trade Lands if an offender party were to damage property or the way of life of an offended party then there are a few ways the offence can be resolved. When the offending party is unable to pay for damages they can either work for the local Baron to cover costs or they may sign Titles of Indentured Servitude to the offended party. By signing the TIS the offending party becomes a servant that must complete tasks assigned by the offended, as long as these tasks do not risk life or risk life altering afflictions. The offending party will be in service until the damages have been deemed to have been paid off. The offended party may dissolve this title at any specific time, only requiring a member of government to witness the dissolution.
The offending party is marked on the hand with a symbol denoting TIS and to whom. Once service is dissolved the mark can be removed. Failure to see through to the end of TIS can lead to severe Social Pact penalties. The offending party will be judged in front of a government body to sentence a penalty severe fitting to the new offence.
Purpose
The purpose of the TIS is to alleviate any legal issues regarding an offending party that is unable to pay fees or looking for an alternative to prison.
