Belgarde Slag

Belgarde lived a typical dwarven life, educated well, started in the mines before becoming a Tunnel Badger in the military scout division. Overall he said they were good times, danger, adventure, and respected among the populace. Until the time where he had to reenlist, he was thinking about joining the civilians and joining a proper architect guild, but decided he'd serve another term. This term would be the most radical and upsetting time he's served.   Out in the mines within his Tunnel Badger troop, they caught word that they were to return for reassignment. The TBs have been slowly exploring systems for months and and when they returned they were shocked just how different things have changed. They returned to their barracks and were briefed by a member of the religious caste. His troop was separated by "purity" as the priest said, he and the others were deemed as "pure" and were given new equipment, aqua blue with green trimming. Leaving the barracks in marching order Belgarde noticed that the banners even changed. A golden hammer with a emerald gem socketed at the head with an aqua backdrop, Moradin's hammer they called it. Parading through the main corridor they stopped at the palace where the King of the Mountain and the Prime Earthen Priest stood. A speech was given speaking about dwarven history, renewed faith, and a prideful future. Afterwards we were order to celebrate, the bars were crowded, but the TBs were very confused and spoke in hushed breaths about recent events.    There came the time where the TBs were called for assignment, escorting Earthen Priests to outlining settlements within the tunnels, confused that they wore battle robes. As they traveled towards the off tunnels they traveled next to a mass exodus on the main passage. Grieving people as they were uprooted from their homes. Belgarde felt extremely conflicted, as he watched these people forced from the mountain.   Once they reached the first settlement, Earth Priests demanded that the villagers assembled within the main town circle. They picked out people that they deemed, "not children of Moradin." They were bound and we went off to the next village and the process was repeated until the very last. From there we marched into one of the deeper more secluded sections of the mines. The Earthen Priests issued orders to terminate the group of captives, head count near 100. The Earthen Priests did, the TBs did, Belgarde did, although he knew this was wrong.   For the remainder of his service, the TBs stood guard within tunnels looking for people sneaking in the mountain. Once he left the TBs he went to the last village he once stood so long ago. Spent his time mining and drinking. Heard whispers that "half-breeds" are still in the kingdom. Belgarde sought them out and promised to escort them out, no compensation needed. Years gone by and Belgarde has become a hushed folk hero, "Swint Blackrock".
