House Vallumar

House Vallumar is one of the oldest Elvish Great Houses. The house was founded by Ygragara Vallumar, her children, and subsequent generations of the family. House Vallumar is also a political dynasty and the reigning house of the Thilsand's capital, and has been since the establishment of its government some millennia ago.

Sigil & House Colors

The sigil for House Vallumar is the ouroboros - a serpent circling in on itself and swallowing its own tail. The symbolism behind this sigil is widely well known throughout historical and cultural contexts. The ourobors represents the cyclic nature of the universe, of creation being reborn from destruction, and immortality.   The house colors are black and gold.

Values

Historically speaking, House Vallumar values loyalty above all else. Members of the house are expected to put family and blood above all other matters in the world, something that has been exemplified throughout the House's many generations. Family hierarchy is also incredibly important to House Vallumar; given the age of the house and how its primary founding members are still living and in positions of great power, there is an unspoken respect for parents and elders within the family. Ruthlessness and bravery are also highly valued within House Vallumar, and this is evident in the personalities of many members of the family. Competitive and, at times, aggressive natures are also often seen in members of this house.

House Sword

The Bright Star is the ancestral broadsword which belongs to House Vallumar. It is one of the oldest remaining Elvish weapons and is easily identified by its gold hilt, featuring the House sigil on the sword's grip - the ouroboros is gold with emeralds for eyes, representing the house colors, as well. The sword was lost for many years during the Battle of the Dark Days, but was rediscovered during the restoration projects in Shael Serin. The sword is said to be incredibly difficult to use, given the advanced pyromantic capabilities needed to wield it at its full power; however, the sword is notorious for burning an incredibly hot flame. It is often said whoever is the primary holder of The Bright Star is the current head of the house, though this is not so much true in present time.
