Ea, the Seaside Paradise
Ea is the current center of trade within Thilsand.
Demographics
The population is largely halfling (37%), with smaller numbers of humans (20%), orcs (18%), dwarves (10%), gnomes (7%), low elves (5%) and high elves (3%).
Government
Once ruled by an all-elvish government, Ea is now self-governed by a council of varying races. Currently, Ea's strongest ally in Thilsand is Vallumar, as both are in favour of restoring the communities destroyed by the war.
Industry & Trade
Ea's seasonal markets and festivals play a large role in the city's overall culture. The Summer trade period brings festivals with it, which most residents eagerly look forward to. The city comes to life during this time of year, as houses are adorned with colorful banners and the market stalls open for business, overflowing with every kind of good imaginable. The Winter Market (sometimes referred to as the Night Market) is smaller in comparison, but is unique in that it is the only time of year in which traders from Shael Serin do business with Ea.
History
The history of Ea is a warded tale and though today it has faded into the background, the remnant of the evil that marred Ea still remains to the northeastern boarder of the city.
Half a dozen centuries ago, elven-kind were known as the superior race and many of their noble families ruled across mythically-dominated cities, including Ea. Nithenoel Greymar, a dark elf widely known for his pyromancy, ruled over Ea with his family for years. Following the mysterious death of the Greymar family shortly before the Battle of the Dark Days, the city lost its last elvish ruler. The white marble structures that once glistened in the glory days of the city fell into disrepair and the long, white beaches went unkempt for nearly 300 years.
Until, that is, a court of halflings came upon the wreck and ruin. They sensed that the place had been torn from nature, twisted and tormented by an old evil that lurked there in the villa atop one of the coastal hills, walls painted with blood. The court found themselves tragically torn and after some pleading from one of the daughters, began repairs on the old city.
The younger members of the court voted against their more experienced elders in hopes that they could bring the city 'up to date'. For centuries since the court arrived, the city was sculpted into a nature reserve of sorts; a haven of peace and tranquility for creature's of all creeds. The son of the court had swayed his mother, like she had persuaded her father to save the city, and seeing that he in her likeness had plans for Ea as she did as a young girl - she allowed him to fulfill his wish.
So Ea changed once again, and has blossomed into the vivacious hub that is it today. The scent of saltwater always seems to linger in the air, as the sun beams down on the city almost all year around to remind the residence that even in this modernized desert city, nature is never too far away.
Today the shadows of Ea's eerie past have long since vanished and the city has risen from its decay; it is now a well-known coastal resort with the modernization of the human world.
