The Scaled
The Scaled are descendants of slaves cursed by Tyrannical Dragons that sought to enslave all of the sentient races they came across. What began as a race of cursed creatures suffering the transformation of the Dracanthropy curse which caused the afflicted to become a hybrid humanoid dragon creature who was subservient to their draconic captors. Later the cursed evolved into their own race of beings as the original survivors of the Draconian wars continued to live their lives and adapted to their newfound bodies. Many were ostracized and couldn't return to their old families and lives so many of the cursed people would work together and build a new empire in the ruins of their Dragon overlords. Using the vast riches the Dragons had amassed they were able to quickly integrate into the world, when the Abyss was discovered the Scaled were eager to be included and would send massive amounts of wealth hoping to assuage the fears of the other peoples who still felt the tremors of the Draconian wars
The city of the Scaled though it the official name most call it "The Hoard" for it was built around the largest of the Dragons' hoards that fell during the Draconian wars, it is filled with such treasure buried beneath it that a few mines were erected to excavate potential mounds of treasure that were sealed by the Dragon's magics before they retreated at the end of the Draconian wars. The excavations have since become both a source of labor and tourists since any visitors that come to The Hoard may pay to delve into the mines in hopes of finding treasures long forgotten.

Among some of the earliest descendants of those afflicted by Dracanthropy that became the Scaled was a mischievous child; Indrota. Indrota was a Soft Scale raised in the founding of The Hoard thus had riches upon riches to his family's name, material wealth or possessions meant very little to Indrota who would constantly wander the city exploring and getting into all sorts of mischief. Indrota had a special knack for finding himself in strange company, from small travelling scholars to the most influential visitors he met any and all who visited from outside the hoards' walls so much so that a local colloquialism came from him "Should one catch a glimpse of little Indrota one will likely hear many majestic tales" and on life went with Indrota ever plaguing The Hoard often welcoming travelers with a phrase that was... almost true "Welcome to my humble abode The Hoard of Indrota".
Indrota became so renown that anytime he was spotted people would attempt to catch and speak to him thus he became very good at not being seen whatsoever, to the point where when he wasn't spotted for a while people got curious and gossiped and wondered where he went, it wasn't until a month had passed where people began to genuinely worry. Indrota would eventually surface bedazzled in strange items no one had ever seen before and a strange air about him as he exclaimed to the people "So long my beloved friends of The Hoard i have been tasked to travel with and aid a band of heroic adventurers ,look forward to my return with stories that will last through the ages!" this speech continued on with laments of how he would be missed and how hard it would be to be gone from his home for so long however most of the crowds gathered just sighed shook their heads and left him rambling in the street, when guards came to question him about his whereabouts and what exactly was happening all they found was a lifelike statue made of solid gold left in his place at the center of town.
