Abyss

The Abyss was discovered by the original group of Heroes it is an ever changing labyrinthine like cave system constantly spawning monsters and the likes until the City of Awe was built, now it is a place adventurers go to get glory fame or riches, although the dangers the Abyss poses are serious some find a way to make a living, no one has ever reached the end of the Abyss and returned to tell the tale even the original band of heroes weren't able to get very far within it.
Within monsters of all types can be found, these creatures behave unlike their above ground counterparts as they typically do not attack each other and that when slain a strange magical core can be found within each creature taking some skill to harvest without damaging them. Monster cores are the main source of magical power in the city for things like heating cooling lights and some machines thus making them an ever sought after commodity and a large part of the income of adventurers who go inside the Abyss. Monster cores are regulated in price and merchants even use them as a standard currency within the city itself.
