Therada

Therada is a diverse planet similar in size to earth. And in association with such a similar size, the planet has a similar biomes ranging from the frigid, uninhabitable poles to the blazing deserts steeped in equator sun to ocean teeming with uncountable numbers of species.

Barring tampering, the laws of thermodynamics and other basic scientific principles apply. This changes, with the addition of the magic within the world. "Magic" is simply science that has yet to be understood, but this magic is powerful enough to even break gravity, time, light and so on. It compares to nothing on earth and is thus difficult to explain in meaningful, scientific terms. In layman's terms, "magic" is the combination of a force referred to as "Aura." Aura, much like electrons, are inherent in every molecule and every atom of the planet. Wizards and other casters are able to siphon Aura from within themselves or their surroundings or even a much more powerful caster in the form of a deity.

As a result of Aura, instead of one dominant species of bipedal, intelligent many separate races were able to get a foot hold within the world. This has allowed for all ranges of intelligent creature, magic infused reptile monstrosities to underground dwelling races adapt to the pressure of the depths. And with so many separate races vying for the same resources, Therada's history is one of infighting and chaos. This, in combination with Aura reducing the need for technology, has stunted the advancement of science and technology.
