Lake Magnaux (Lake Mag-NO)
Lake Magnaux is a large lake located in the Thenian state of Keshea. Located almost directly in the middle is the small island city of Magnaux, which thrives on its tourism trade. Known as the "Mirror of Thenia" because of its remarkably clear water, thousands flock every year to enjoy the beautiful lake.
Lake Magnaux is quite large, at about 40 miles long and 30 miles wide; it is the second largest lake in Thenia (after Lake Artemisia, located in Ghazeen). Lake Magnaux is located northeast of Kanska Forest, and west of the Glennswood. The Cliffs of Morhir also overlook the lake.
The climate of the lake is extremely pleasant; most of the year, the lake and its surrounding area enjoy a mild climate, with very few weather extremes. (Part of this is the reason the lake is such an attractive tourism destination!) Occasionally, some strong storms develop over the lake, but the locals know the signs, and it's rare that people are deeply affected by the stormy weather.
Lake Magnaux's resources are largely tourism, although there is a booming fish trade on the lake. (There are many regulations to ensure the ecosystem seems stable, however.) The lake also provides some drinking water to the island of Magnaux.
Tourism is the main resource of Lake Magnaux; there are dozens of hotels and inns that dot the island of Magnaux and the lake's surrounding banks. Tourists to Lake Magnaux are treated to many recreational activities, like boating, fishing, swimming, picnicking, and other recreational activities. Although tourists are very welcomed, there are strict rules in place to ensure that the lake is treated with respect, and that it's able to be enjoyed by all. Rules include no picking of any vegetation or flowers on the banks, no pollution whatsoever of the lake, as well as stringent anti-littering laws. Typically, this isn't too much of a problem.
