This alien races puberty is just like human puberty, just it has a few added changes. At the start of puberty, the child will be engulfed by a cocoon and for two weeks will grow 4 more vocal cords making a total amount of 6, growing gills to breathe underwater, grow wings for flight, gain the ability to change skin color like a cuttlefish, grow a tail, grow retractable fins for swimming, and being able to see from 1 nm to 10^6 nm of the EM spectrum when they could only see visible light, 4 antenna, and get pointy hook like ears.
At the end of the two week puberty period, the non-child has grown up and is now ready to devour your fridge before you can get your wife to buy some groceries.
Before and after the puberty session occurs, the teen will experience a hormone imbalance which will last for around two weeks after the cocoon shell has been molted off and guys are not immune to this.
