Arcane Alchemy
The Art must be kept safe, for the power to shatter mountains, dry oceans, and move the stars themselves is far too great for the likes of kings and prophets.Hidden in the far reaches of the Wraith Globe, ancient scripts speak of a society of alchemists and spellcasters simply referred to as "The Order of the Art." All that is known about this organization is that they wished to meld the studies of alchemy and magic into one, and so the strange technology known as Arcane Alchemy was discovered. From this pursuit, it is believed that a number of powerful artifacts were created, but the exact science behind Arcane Alchemy is still shrouded in uncertainty. Even now, the respective extents of alchemy and magic seem completely unconnected, so how could these two studies be combined in any meaningful way? No matter how this was achieved, the writings of the Order of the Art tell of how this power rivaled that of the Lords. They speak of mountains being cleaved in two, Oceans being evaporated in the blink of an eye, and the very distribution of the outer planes, and therefore Viabaas' Ring, being altered.~ Third Tenet of the Emerald Tablet of the Order
Access & Availability
It seems as if the study of Arcane Alchemy was almost completely exclusive to the ancient Order of the Art. The secrets of this technology were kept behind locked doors, information was written and never said aloud, and the place of meeting for the order was constantly changing.
Complexity
Even with modern analysis, the few scraps of Arcane Alchemy that have been found are completely alien. There is no reason that these items should do anything abnormal, and yet they function in ways that should not be possible.
Discovery
It is clear from the few surviving scripts written by members of the Order of the Art that the discovery of Arcane alchemy was the brainchild of a single individual: the unnamed founder of the Order. He gathered the best alchemists and magicians of the Finite Races at the time, and the art of Arcane Alchemy was discovered.
