The Mother’s Eye
Purpose / Function
Known at the time as the observatory, it was originally built as a central place of worship for followers of the astral gods. It main feature being a domed glass ceiling and a powerful telescope, visitors could see the stars and celestial bodies up close. This made it easier to divine the meanings of astronomical events.
Alterations
Since the ownership of the building changed hands, there have been many changes to its design and function. With the glass dome destroyed, it was replaced with a carving of a yellow rose. The smooth stone of the walls was carved with verses of the Mother’s scripture and covered with religious paintings.
Architecture
The structure adheres to most features of other astral temples, with an increase in size and grandeur. Built with large blocks of white stone, the temple consists of one large chamber, with two smaller rooms in the back for storage and various uses.
History
The building was first erected as a community effort so that all worshippers of the astral gods would have a place to come together and seek guidance from the stars. The building served this purpose for many years and maintained records of the stars and celestial events during that time.
During the first crusade of the golden rose, the observatory was taken over and turned into a place of worship dedicated to the Mother. The glass dome was destroyed during a skirmish and the sisterhood chose to replace with a carved image of a yellow rose on the inside. Gold paint on the outside of the roof of the building represents the watchful eye of the Mother, lending the building its new name. The sisterhood believes that the Mother is always watching over their victories, and plans the future endeavors to spread their faith at the Eye.
