Raven Keep

Raven Keep is the central home of the order of the Raven. Though the orders headquarters were originally on another continent, once it was discovered that the new world bore a great del of magic monsters, that there was was no better place for the Order to make their home.Though there has been a building on the same site for many years, a part of the Order’s secretive history, the Keep proper as it exists today was built only a few generations ago. Sponsored by the Order itself, along with contributions from local colonists and outside sources, the Keep’s exterior and main walls are made from limestone bricks. A self contained settlement for the Order, the Keep contains living quarters and barracks for all soldiers and ranking officials, training areas, a smithy and leatherworking workshop,  an area of cultivated farmland, and an observatory tower. Also on the grounds is a building made of white stone, known as the Memorial Hall, where members of the ORder who have lost their lives are immortalized.The nearest settlement to offer any form of diversion if Sorrow Harbor, which is still some distance from the Keep. To this end, the Order will stock spirits for the indulgence of the ORder as an alternative to the tavern experience. Any other diversions are not allowed on Keep grounds.The Keep contains a hidden passageway leading to a seldom used grotto. Possibly once used by smugglers, it currently houses a modest rowboat and dock that barely kept in service. Those who know of the Order’s history assume this was the landing point where new recruits to the order would sneak to the continent from the mainland in order to complete their induction at the landmark Clarity. With the island’s discovery and subsequent colonization, the Order’s need for secrecy dissolved. However, the exact location of Clarity is still a closely guarded secret. Those who are not intimately acquainted with the Order may not know of its existence of purpose at all.The Memorial Hall is an empty temple, made of white stone to mirror the architecture of Astral Temples. The order follows a tradition of burning their dead, but it has long been decreed no one’s sacrifice go forgotten. The names of every member of the ORder of the Raven who has passed to be among the stars, regardless of cause of death, is carved into the inner walls of the building. Each name is carved in the same manner, without titles or honorifics, because “In death we are all equal.”
