The Storm Keepers
Overview
Founded after the actions of the Mad Queen, that put the integrity of the Storm Wall at risk, the Storm Keepers observe and patrol the storm line looking for any problems or issues. Their continuing mission statement is to keep the magic strong and continuing to protect the Queendom of Vreabia.Ethics
To them, protecting the Storm Wall is worth almost any cost. They consider anyone putting it at risk an enemy and therefore deserving of punishment or worse. They grudgingly admit that the safety and continued health of the Queendom is more important than maintaining the storm wall, but see the magical protection as the best way to do this, anyway.Political Influence
They try to stay out of politics if they can help it, their members being largely too busy patrolling and measuring magical levels and strengths to spend too much time in court. The Deacon, however, spends all his time in the capital, at the palace, so takes part in court life frequently. They are usually quite a shrewd individual, allowing them to maintain the political strength and position of the order at large. The Deacon needs to lobby for funding, increased rights and other lowering of restrictions to allow them to do what they see, as their job given to them by one of the gods.Org Structure
They call most members by the title of Storm Ranger. They refer to the head of the organisation as the Deacon of the Storm. Particular positions have other titles like the Master of the Winds, in-charge of the sect of them that patrols the sea line, and Keeper of the Book of Bolts who maintains and records the history of the order. They recruit most of the Rangers upon graduation from the . They try to hire anyone with focuses in wind and air magic, also favouring any people who concentrated on magical energy theory.Responsibilities
The members will spend most of their time travelling along the edge of the Storm Wall taking magical readings and checking for any inconsistencies or weaknesses. These are dangerous lands. The weather is strong but predictable to them. There are a series of storm bunkers they have built along the wall to grant them shelter and safety during particularly rough weather patterns. The order has developed ways to read the strength of the magical field maintaining the wall of wind and rain. They make constant records to see that this level doesn’t drop or have fluctuations. They consider themselves the first line of defence against any sort of magical failure.Religious Practices
They follow the goddess Astara of Wind and hold frequent services in her honour. Considering the Storm wall and its continued strength as a gift from her to the people of Vreabia. To them, it proves that they hold her favour and that they must work to continue to be worthy of it. While out travelling they pray at shrines they have set up along the storm line. These shrines seem impervious to the dangers of the weather, staying standing and whole even in the strongest and most destructive of storms.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
