The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention begins studying rhesus monkeys that have been reported to be behaving strangely in the Tampa area.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention begin studying rhesus monkeys that have been reported to be behaving suspiciously in the Tampa area. There have been several reports of the monkey's brutally attacking one another. Zoos in the area have been forced to keep their rhesus monkeys in isolation and even then the affected animals refused to eat, even to the point of starvation. When observed the afflicted monkey's seemed to wander around almost mindlessly until they can find a healthy rhesus monkey. They then would begin to violently attack it until the new monkey showed signs of the sickness. Media outlets are describing the behavior as "Zombie like." Veterinarians and animal scientists alike are baffled by the case, some leaders in the field suspect it could be a virus of some sort. The CDC has taken several afflicted animals to their research facilities in Atlanta, Georgia.
