Elves

Elves are a species not originally native to the Mortal Plane, although they have since made it their home. They were brought to the world by Ysil, Father of the Elves, during the Elven Dawn, 10000 years before the First Age.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Elves are humanoid creatures, but can be significantly taller than the average human, sometimes reaching over 7 feet tall. They are leaner than their human counterparts. Their most notable feature are their pointed ears, although these are less prominent in some Elves, such as the Sadheri.

Civilization and Culture

History

The Elves were originally denizens of Arboras, the Twilight Forest, before being led to the Material Plane by Ysil, 10000 years before the First Age.   This event is known as the Elven Dawn, and those elves that followed Ysil to the world became known as the Ysilli. They lived on what is now known as the continent of Ysillia until partway through the Second Age, at which point they were forced to flee by an invasion of their homeland by demonic forces.   This event, known as the Dividing Exodus, forced the Ysilli to split into two groups, the west-bound , who settled in the arid desert of Sadhera, and the east-bound Silatheri, who settled in the lush forests of Osteria.   These two groups lived separate existences, their cultures diverging from one another. The Sadheri struggled in the desert, but became hardier as a result of their harsh environment, while the Silatheri lived more easily, as Osteria was similar in climate to Ysillia and to their original home of Arboras.
