Physical Description
Special abilities
Darren is a 12- level Magic User meaning he can do basic magic spells and potions as well as some immediate level magic. However, he struggled to pass through several levels until he decided to stop around level 12 due to his “unknown sin” that prevented him from reaching level 14 and his terrible performance on his magical exams.
Apparel & Accessories
A tanned blue-eyed tall young man with long dark brown hair down to his neck. Darren’s outfits of leather biker jacket, t-shirts; and wears a variety different color of jeans: ripped and regular, and white sneakers. He also had a bronze family amulet that was owned by his father which he wears occasionally. Darren’s suppression wristband is disguised as a black wristwatch.

Personal history
Darren is a 19-year-old ( Currently 26-year-old after the events of The Secrets We Hold series) young Magic-User/Mage who resides in Clare Point View with his aunt, Michelle Cross. His mother, Beth Cross left him with his older siblings when he was 11 for mysterious reasons. His father was absent for most of his life. Darren has two older siblings, a sister, and half-brother named, Olive and Mark. When he was baby, Darren was originally from Roseland until Michelle and Beth had to move the children out of town for safety reasons which were unknown to the children. Darren spent his childhood in Clare Point View, growing up with his terrible siblings who bullied him horribly over the lack of ability in controlling his powers.
There was no explanation for the reason for his lack of ability to control his magic but it is hinted that the “ devil” may curse him for an “unknown sin” from the day he was born. Therefore, many believed that Darren will never be proficient in magic due to this.
His older half-brother, Mark was the worst since he always undermined in Darren in every way he could. The bullying wasn’t just at home. Darren was considered as a laughing stock among the younger witches and mages who secretly resided in Outsider towns as the covens around the area have secret magical skills training for the younger children. Within the Supernatural communities, Darren was a bit of loner and never interacted with the other witches and mages since they favored his older and powerful siblings. As a result, Darren developed an inferiority complex.
While Darren is typically a loner by nature, he took up other hobbies such as music and chess while attempting to hone his magical skills on the side. Having those hobbies kept him from feeling like a failure. When Darren was in elementary school, he met a boy named Jesse Vega who stubbornly wanted to be his friend. Darren often finds Jesse to be very annoying considering that he never wanted an Outsider as his friend. It wasn’t until Jesse took an interest Darren in playing Chess at the park and begged him to teach the game to him. Darren did teach Jesse the game, needless to say, Jesse couldn’t understand the game completely. Darren still amused that someone took an interest in him which started their friendship. Around the same age, Darren also met a girl named Ji-a Chantel Delisle who was a classmate of Jesse and him. Chantel was a headstrong girl who always defended people who were being bullied in their classroom. All three of them became friends as they grew up together as they showed an interest in music. The three of them later became apart of a 5-member band called, The NorthEasters.
Jesse and Chantel are completely clueless to fact that they are friends with a Mage/Supernatural since Darren keeps that fact a secret from his friends and desire to keep it that way to anyone.
During TSWH series, Darren stopped practicing his magic around when he was 17 as he gave up for several reasons: his failure to reach the level of a proficient mage, traumatized by the Outsider Government for an incident from eight years ago, and tired of trying controlling his magic. He turns decides to live a normal life among the Outsiders, locking away his wand and spell books to focus on being a bassist for the NorthEasters. However, he may not be able to have that option anymore considering a mysterious group has entered into the City of Clare Point View.
Prior Events in the TSWH Series
Show SpoilerDarren was one of the five children who survived the Baystate Square neighborhood massacre. When he was eleven, Darren had gone to summer camp with his friends, Chantel and Jesse. The camp was located not too far from the Baystate neighborhood. The three friends met a girl named Leticia who was talking about seeing another town next to them often appearing at night. Kids at the summer camp believed she was crazy and how the town was nothing but a myth. Overhearing her, Darren and Chantel were the only ones who believed in her. A child at the summer camp dared all three of them to go to find the “so-called unknown town.” Jesse and Leticia’s friend, Dakota went along with their friends out of pure curiosity. At the dawn of night, the group left the camp to head over to Golden Oak Woods where it was rumored where the town would be. The group had to pass over Baystate Square to get to the forest. Unknown to the group, they walked into the neighborhood where there were people in the neighborhood suddenly killing each other, murdering, arson, or committing suicide in the streets! Some of the residents noticed the children and chased them as they tried to murder them. Darren for the first time in front of his friends used his magic defended them away. The children ran into an abandoned house as they went to hide and stay low. All of the group were shocked about the murder and confused about how Darren had the ability to do that. Darren had to quietly explain that he was a warlock and didn’t want the group to be scared of him. After the night raged on full of murder and screaming, a search party found the kids sleeping in the basement. The kids were taken to a government agency where they were all interrogated. Darren had mentioned another group of mysterious people in the massacre and felt something was wrong about the interrogation. As soon as he knew it, agents send the kids to brainwash them to wipe their memories away to cover up the incident. Darren was the next to brainwashed then the procedure failed to wipe his memories of the event. He was the only one where the memory wipe wasn’t successful. So one of the agents decided to threaten to send Darren away to Aurora Hill Mental Hospital and force his family to move back to Roseland if he ever told anyone about these events and never tell his friends about him being supernatural to cover the incident to the public. A government agent even offered his aunt, Michelle money for every year to keep the whole family quiet about the incident.
The aftermath played a huge impact on Darren since he had to play along with the lie the government made him do and also lied to his friends about the truth. Darren continues to deal with anxiety and depression as a result of the incident. It was also one of the core reasons that Darren have given up practicing witchcraft.
Mental Trauma
Darren has trauma from being abused by the Outsider government related to an incident eight years ago. This experience resulted him from having anxiety and depression; also became one of the reasons he stopped practicing witchcraft.
