Gossis Settlement in The World of Tabled | World Anvil

Gossis

Demographics

The hamlet of Gossis is populated almost entirely by dragonborn and lizardfolk, who are agreeable about the climate and little else.
Race Percentage
Dragonborn 80%
Lizardfolk 17%
Dwarves 3%

Government

A Triumvirate consisting of the three races; a hearty Dragonborn male named Drorziaks, a female lizardfolk elder named Srechoh, and a younger dwarf named Hormout Mithrilfall. Their word is law and denying such is nothing less than excommunication.

Defences

The town maintains a round of volunteer guards and a few paid hunters that maintain the peace. As the island is far removed from the wars in Balfor, it maintains a semblance of peace.

Infrastructure

The inland hamlet is quaint, consisting of topside metallurgy and caverns of rare metal. The region is dotted with mills and forges that billow smoke into the air above the mists that rise from the streams and meadows. Large rocks pocket the land, like small stationary giants. A forest circles the town and narrowly parts to the South-West. The only road out of the town leads to the round highway; the loop connecting the villages separated by the Brittle Crown Peaks.

Assets

The town hosts a large storehouse of rare metals guarded by warriors trained by the Balfor chapter of the Gnawing Hunt. The only store in town is run by Kirromora Earthcoat and her wife Rundruirgith. It mainly deals in imports and exports.

Guilds and Factions

Gossis Miners: A small, tight knit company of workers who use their trade to create weapons for the wars on the mainland.
Gnawing Hunt, Balfor Chapter: Hailing from the mainland, these hunters are trained in skills best adapted for monster hunting. Only three have been hired by the town, but their presence is enough to deter bandits.

History

Founded in 1153AL, Gossis started as a farming town before the discovery of a rich vein of metal beneath the town's surface. Ever since, the town grew to fit the needs of a refinery; taking the ore and melting it down for weapons and tools to sell to Balfor. While the town abstains from conflict itself, it holds an unspoken truce with it's mainland neighbors that if they continue to produce quality weaponry, then the nations will have no reason to take the land for themselves. In 1291, it maintains that peace and has only recently seen a decline in population due to drafting efforts by Tactant.
