The Veil's of Hades and Hyrsam

The World Creators God and Rule of the Underworld Hades and Fey Lord Hyrsam Prince of Fools have scattered across the plans of their world Insypra. They are powerful masks, that unlock the abilities of their wearer. When these ancient relic masks are paired with their destined wearer it will allow them to participate in the Worlds Tournament as a Champion of Inspyra or so some say.

The Veils -

It is difficult to fully know what the Creators had in mind when they craft these powerful Veils but they clearly had a purpose as they made many of these veils. Although usually themed after an animal or monstrosity of some sort these Veils can give immense power to their wearer or strip away their life force. They are fickle magical items that have in the current age become nothing but words lost in dust covered books.

Types of Veils -

Each type has its exceptions but generally they each of three subcategories and share common traits and abilities among their group.

Luchanthrope -

  • general a leather masks that covers the whole head and is secured with ties on the bottom of the back of the mask. These masks are colorful and give the wearer the traits of what creature they are depicting.
    1. Animals - Most Common. Normal animals found in the world (wolves, rats, hippopotami, and others).
    2. Beasts - Rare. More exotic but not always more powerful beasts found in the world (aliraj, flumphs, two-headed Crocodile, dinosaurs, and others).
    3. Mythical - Very rare. Beasts of legend and myth (unicorn, fiends, dragons, and others).

    Tartarade -

  • Made of wood and metal this often have a very masquerade design in nature. These masks have a tendency to give their wearer two forms a relatively unchanged humanoid form and a hellish hybrid form.
    1. Undead - Most Common. The wear takes on the advantages of being undead while being able to return to the land of the living. (zombies, imps, vampire, and others).
    2. Dire - Rare. These mask contain the power and abilities of Dire creatures (wolves, trolls, corby, and others).
    3. Devil - Very Rare. The power of an arch devil is contained within these masks (devil dog, Asmodeus, dust devils, and others).

    Monstrositoo -

  • Are amongst some of the most ravishing of the Inspyrian Veils. They range greatly in design, size, and color. They are also extremely vibrant and part of a full-body costume.
    1. Monstrosities - Most Common. The wear can gain the impressive power of different monstrosities (behir, manticore, worg, and others).
    2. Vegetation - Rare. The strength of barkskin or the ability to walk through trees are granted to these wears (myconiod, treant, vine blight, and others).
    3. Oceanarium - Very rare. Those lucky enough to be selected by these types of masks have power of the power of the sea on their side (kraken, slarkrethel, dragon turtle, and others).

    Oddyssies -

  • The most random of type of veil. These Veils do not fit into any particular stye and each seem to be more random than the next, although a majority are made from wood some seem to be made from skin, or other interesting materials.
    1. Elementa - Most Common. Fire, Earth, Water, Air, and ... Heart? Seems to be what the power these Veils give to their wearers. The power of the elements are truly special (elemental, efreeti, dijinni, and others).
    2. Feyth - Rare. Creatures of the Fey, Underdark, Shadow Fall are ready to lend their help and cause mischief along the way (blink dog, hag, beholder).
    3. Siwren - Very Rare. The old, unknown, forgotten ones are some of the Veils that are myths of this myth they hold immense power and are very hard to control (gorgons, oozes, aboleth, and others).

    Summary

Due to the over crowded nature of the Multi-Verse and the overall tendency of the Gods and Fey of creating worlds and then abandoning them, Chief God Olos decided that something must be done. So he and his wife Lady Ophelia Mistress of the Fey made The Laws of Creation. These laws stated the following:
    1. In order for a world to be created a God and Fey Lorde/Lady must sign a contract stating they will work together as the overseers the world.
    2. Both creating parties will supply the Magic to their own world.
    3. Both creating parties will not neglect or mistreat the creatures (living/non-living/undead). If they do they agree to accept full punishment of their actions.
    4. When a meeting of the Gods and Fey is called each World must send at least one representative of the two Creators.
    5. Gods/Feys will not meddle or interfere in the affairs of other worlds.
    6. Undergo World checks for quality of life checks.
    7. If your World is not found satisfactory you agree to participate in Worlds Tournament.
    8. Worlds Tournament will be a variety of events in order to determine wether your world can remain or be erased.
    9. If your world is erased the two signing Creators will be sent back to their respective planets and be stripped of their powers and unable to create another world.
    10. If your world is erased the Souls or Sparks of Inspiration will be sent back to the Fountain of Inspiration where they can be drawn once again for the next round of Creation.
During the time Olos conducts his Planetary inspections if a world is deemed Erasable the Creators of the World must select five champions to fight for their right to stay in existence.

    Spread

Mostly spread by word of mouth as writing about the Veils becomes troublesome and it had to put into words what one has witnessed when they see one in person. However warriors of the Veils do sometimes write a journal about the events they have gone through.

    Variations & Mutation

There are variations of the Veils for each civilization. There are some who seek their power, those who want to protect them, or even hide them away. For some cultures they are even prohibited of talking about them as some do not want to bring judgement down on the world.

    In Literature

There are of course rumors and small mentions of something called World Tournaments. In general though the common person (depending where they live) would know next to nothing of the Veils, just a bed time story or maybe a small poem in a library. For dedicated scholars or ones wealthy enough there has been Journals discovered but generally there is much to be discovered about these items of power.

    In Art

Not many pieces of art depicting the Veils exist, but the paintings of the talented Satyr artist Vincent Van Goat are wildly accepted as being the most true. His most famous work is "Dove in the Sky" it depicts a half-elf floating in air surrounded by a flight of white doves. Van Goat's unique style has the painting seemingly alive as the images move around the canvas, to do this day no one has been able to figure out how he did this.
