The Myth behind the Bowl of the Healer

The goddess Sarchi'na once visited the world she had made and took human form in order to walk among her people. Once there, it was not long before she saw a real need in the kingdoms. The people did not know Her. The magical creatures she had created in tandem with the humans had mutated from their purpose and attacked the people. Diseases ran rampant. Sarchi'na took action. She searched out three women among the people who she knew had a desire to do good, and to each of these, she gave an item of power.   The first item, a woven belt of gold and silver thread, gave the wearer clarity of mind and speech. The second, a war axe of wood and dragon bone, gave the wielder incredible strength and longevity. The third, a bowl of chiseled stone, gave the drinker the power of Health.   These women became the first Priest, Warrior, and Healer.   Drinking water from the bowl gave others the Blessing of Sarchi'na, allowing them to become Healers, masters of life over death. Over time, other methods were developed, rituals were created, and the bowl became a centerpiece of the Healer's Academy. It sat useless and forgotten, admired like an item in a museum.   A few of the most daring Healer hopefuls attempted to skip their lessons and drink from the bowl, but the Blessing was never granted them. It is unknown if this was because the bowl was fake, or if the bowl knew the darkness in their hearts and refused to do its work.   During the time of the Breaking, the bowl disappeared from its pedestal. It was spotted several times over the next few centuries, but no report has been verified.   A village in the mountains claimed they had found the artifact after a great sickness washed over their colony, cured only by one of their own after drinking from a strangely decorative bowl.   A city on the Eastern Islands has a carved stone bowl on display, protected by a sheet of glass, so none may discover if it contains the properties of Sarchi'na's bowl.

Every child on this continent or its surrounding islands knows of Sarchi'na's Blessings. The physical gifts she gave to those three women in the world's time of need. But the specific history of the items is known only to those who study and train to become a Priest, Warrior, or Healer.
