Rebel Hideout
The Rebellion repurposed this old housing unit as a storage house and restaurant with a tavern. They got permission from the city to tear down walls and alter the interior while promising to restore the old architectural beauty of the place.
The restaurant and tavern help to fund the cause, and allowing the workers to sleep in the converted rooms on the second floor, gives the Rebellion an excuse to purchase housing supplies that might otherwise look suspicious.
Purpose / Function
The Ta'een Rebellion uses this abandoned building to house its members, its weapons, and its food. It is occasionally used as a meeting place for the Rebellion as well, but they usually meet elsewhere to retain the secrecy of their connection. Before the Rebellion took over the place, it served as housing for the low-income members of the village; until it grew too small for the population, and the community made another building.
Alterations
Within its first few years, the needs of the community had grown, and the hostel saw many alterations to its original design.
It started as a one-story building with five family modules (each presumed to be four people) then became a three-story building with enough room for thirty family modules. However, it accommodated more than just the families intended; it housed 15 individuals as well. After ten years of cramped living, it was later abandoned for larger accommodations on the other side of town and left to ruin.
When the Rebellion first considered it as a hideout and weapons cache, they had to tear down the additions on one side due to termites and water damage.
They refurbished the downstairs, connecting three of the original family units into a large restaurant and tavern. They converted two other family modules into a kitchen and pantry; two more they divided into private rooms for individual parties or celebrations. The final module leads into the basement and cellar, where various food items and weapons are stored. The basement has a door that leads out of the city as an escape route.
