Ofirður
The Star of Peace
Geography
Ofirður appears as a bright, red star in the direct south every five years for four nights. Every 50th year its light even appears during the day. It's one of four stars that appear in the sky in each of the four directions at varying time intervals.
History
The first appearance of Ofirður was in conjunction with the other three God and Goddess stars. Blue in the North, Green in the East, Red in the South, and White in the West. For a great while, there was unrest on the continent and on the islands. However, when the people created the ruling kingdoms, Ofirður shone in the heavens day and night for 100 hours (4 days). They named the star Ofirður, which means Red Peace.
Regardless of whatever conflict is going on among the people, no battles or bloodshed is allowed during the four days of Ofirður's reign. The people believe that shedding blood on any of those days is bad luck. Anyone who breaks the unspoken tradition, and their family, is cursed for all time.
The last time this rule was ignored, it caused The Breaking. Fænya Omar'di was killed on one of these days and shortly after Sarchi'na stepped in and Broke the World.
Tourism
Since the Breaking, the Week of Peace (during which Ofirður shines) serves as a memorial, and as a reminder to never let such a terrible thing happen during Ofirður's reign. Every village celebrates with various fantastic displays of art, crafts, magic, and feasts. The capital's events, especially, cause people to travel from all over the continent to join in. Many prefer the exciting curated adventures of the islands, however, over the seated spectacles of Ta'il's capital. Many of the islands plan their festivals a full year in advance, making them the most extensive experiences of the kingdom. From escape rooms to scavenger hunts to incredible theatre performances.
