Symptoms

Plants/floura: Their cells begin to die off quickly. They slowly wither away and die. Creatures/fauna: The body's immune system tries to fight it off. It is mostly successful but then the virus mutated and overcame the defenses. The virus attacks the cells and destroys some of them. Others, they do the typical thing of replicating inside of them and destroying them from the inside. From the outside, the symptoms seem to just be a case of the flu or something. But then it gets much worse when people's skin starts changing to a different color and it begins falling off. The pain is slightly numbed, but nothing can compensate for what they feel. They eventually die and the virus usually doesn't last longer than 5 days without a live host.

Prognosis

The condition is almost always fatal.

Hosts & Carriers

Nearly all plant life (flora), and some multicellular fauna can be hosts/carriers and is often deadly. (Microfauna is not known to be affected.)

Epidemiology

When the virus evolved/mutated it became adapted to survive and replicate inside a person's body. They were killed. Their body became weak, and then horrible things started happening. Their skin seemed to dry up, and it began rotting and falling off. The village in which this first began was almost entirely wiped out. The few survivors fled but carried the virus with them. The other town was suspecting of them, but took them in anyways. But as soon as people became infected they started blaming the newcomers. They killed and burned their bodies. Then, the girlfriend of the chief's son became infected, and the son had to watch as her body rotted away while in immense pain. He killed her himself upon her request to put her out of this pain. After more were infected the people went mad and began killing and burning those who could be infected, along with their belongings. This almost seemed to solve the problem, as temporarily it seemed that there were no more sick people. But it came back. So they burned their whole town, and the surroundings in a desperate attempt to rebel against this cruel new reality. There was a world ending virus on the loose. They told others about it. And they joined in. Soon it became a worldwide movement called the Flames of Hope, in which every nation, group, and individual was encouraged to burn everything and anything that could be infected, even their loved ones if it came to it.

Cultural Reception

As this affected nearly all people in the known world everyone was afraid of it. After it was over every culture has stems on the events that occurred due to the virus. People are always afraid of the virus as it could quickly cause massive destruction easily if left unchecked. To contain widespread contamination people know to quickly burn the suspected area and surroundings for good mesure.
