Principality of Sophinheim

"There are some who say the Prince's ambition will be the death of him. To rule so much territory without the right, to make others kneel... An Empire needs an Emperor, not a boy pretending at being King. Despite this, his hand is gentle, and his people do love him... His wives have not conspired behind his back, and his advisors are loyal.   But we shall see what happens to him and his people, for there are whispers in the void, and blood on the wind."   -The Prophet of Vinthras

Overview

Sophinheim is the largest country on the face of E'atvala in terms of actual landmass, consisting of large sprawling mountains, bountiful forests, and verdant plains that span across the entirety of it. The Principality is an oddity amongst its neighbors, seeming more like an Empire at first glance due to the large sprawling territory and its penchant for industry and trade. It is however, a very peaceful country, with its population content in both the common man and the nobility. The current Prince is one of reason and peace, not wishing to give in to the bloody roots of his ancestors, instead choosing to elect for peace and utilizing the abundance of resources to helping their neighbors.

The political climate of Sophinheim with its neighbors ranges from Neutral to Friendly, only having a militarized border on two fronts at the moment. One to the South, where fortifications have been set up as primarily a deterrant to the country of Vessiri, and to the South East on the border of The Scar. The Southern borders alongside the Vessiri territories are currently peaceful, no raiding armies having pushed through the staunch defenders. The South Eastern front however is a whole other story, constantly facing and dealing with incursions from the denizens of the Scar. It is here where the primary military forces of Sophiheim are deployed, holding back the tides of gibbering abominations and stray creatures that pour forth from the Scar like an unending ocean, the tides always being held back successfully.

History

The Principality of Sophinheim was once a small territory that only inhabited the westernmost peninsula of its territory, housing its capital in the city of Wekstadt. Sophinheim was once the vassal state of the then much large Damoclesian Empire, a large territory that spanned from the southern mountains all the way to the central Sophine Heights, and well east into what is now known as The Scar. Numerous conflicts with their neighbors began to eventually chip away at the Damoclesian Empire, territory being lost to its rivals, which was all the chance the fledgeling nation needed to strike out and break free from their chains. A minor conflict that is now known as The Liberation War took place, where the Sophinheim forces routed and drove off their oppressors and took hold of the southern territories.   After the Liberation War, the Sophinheim elected a new ruler, a young man who had led the charge in numerous battles. Not wishing to serve under a new King, they elected to make him a Prince, who would work with other nobility from the Great Houses of Sophinheim. With this newfound territory and populace swelling thanks to the refugees of the other countless conflicts and wars, the now Principality of Sophinheim set itself forward to beating back the Damoclesian menace and establish themselves as a new ruling power in the land.   The Damoclesian Empire crumbled shortly after the Liberation War, unable to keep itself together with the constant battles, strife, and population loss. It eventually abdicated, and splintered into several warring states that fought amongst themselves for nearly a century before they were pacified and integrated one by one into the ever growing Principlality.

Government

The Principality is an oddity amongst its neighbors, not ruling with Kings or Warlords. Instead, a Prince-elect has been chosen to rule in its place, with a small group of elected officials from each territory within the borders of the country. With this ruling council and the Prince to govern over the land, they can
