Miskatonic River

Geography

The Miskatonic river follows a west-to-east path across northern Massachusetts, originating from springs in the hills west of Dunwich. It runs eastward past Dunwich, turns southeast, and flows through Arkham. The river empties into the sea two miles to the north of Kingsport, which lies just to the southwest.

Localized Phenomena

Fish People Sightings
There have been numerous accounts over the years of people claiming to have seen fish-like humanoids in and around the shores of the Miskatonic. The majority of these sightings have been reported from the stretch of the river between Kingsport and Arkham, but some have been made from as far upstream as Worchester county. Descriptions of these fish people sightings vary wildly between accounts, but most seem to corroborate that the creatures are bipedal, hairless, and possess glowing eyes. Skeptics of these accounts argue that these so-called "fish people" could be anything from schools of fish to river divers in wetsuits
Sentinel Island
Sentinel Island is a small island in the stretch of the Miskatonic that runs through Arkham. The island has few remarkable features save for a standing stone circle at its highest point. Experts have noted similarities between it and other stone circles found in the hills outside of Dunwich, which are believed to have been created by the now-extinct Misqat tribe. As such, the island is a protected historical site that people can't legally visit without the proper paperwork. This hasn't prevented people from claiming to witness strange lights and figures on the island at night.

Fauna & Flora

The Miskatonic River and its surrounding areas are home to a diverse array of wildlife including: beavers, river otters, herons, various migratory songbirds, salmon, bass, trout, clams, snakes, turtles, frogs, and salamanders.

Those riverpeople sounds mysterious. Are these sightnings varified or still a bit of a myth?

Yes and no. There's definitely fish people out there, but just because they were seen in the river, doesn't mean they live there ;)
