Tiefling

Tieflings are a bit of a unique ethnicity, in that the requirements for being one differ from other ethnicities. They are not members of a certain nation, do not share a certain language, or have the same traditions. Despite this, they all share a history, or rather each one has a certain point in their history or their family's history that is shared by all other tieflings. At some point in their life or that of their ancestor's, a deal was made with a fiend.   Many fiends, upon making a deal with a mortal, leave that mortal tainted by their fiendish presence. A number of transformations may occur, such as the growth of horns, or a change in skin color to red, black, or blue. This transformation sometimes extends to a tiefling's next of kin, marking their entire bloodline with a fiend's touch. The transformation certainly doesn't come without benefits, however, and many tieflings find that they possess minor fiendish powers, such as manipulating fire.   The spread of this taint is not limited to a tiefling's bloodline, however. Often, it clings to any items related to a tiefling's pact as well. There are many artisans and crafters who have, unsatisfied with the quality of their work or the time and skill required to perfect it, sought out fiendish help in order to perfect their craft and bring themselves great fortune. While this certainly happens, and the items they produce are fantastic, of higher quality than any mundane item crafted by a mere mortal, they come with a terrible price.   These fiend-marked creations carry a bit of the tiefling curse with them, and those who use the items may feel the transformation coming over them. It starts with small signs, maybe a sharper nail, or a patch of red skin, but repeated usage often results in a person becoming fiendtouched as well. Due to this unfortunate added price, many are unwilling to purchase items crafted by tiefling artisans. However, the desperate can always be persuaded into purchasing something that could save them, regardless of the price, and the foolish can always be tricked into buying something that isn't necessarily what it seems like. After all, tiefling craftsmanship is unrivaled and may be worth the price, especially to other tieflings. After all, they're already fiendtouched.
