Godsblood (Chem)
Chem is the blood of Gods, harvested from their still-rotting corpses. It is this elusive arcane substance which justifies the hardships and loss of life which characterize delves of the boneyards. This effervescent quicksilver acts as a type of fuel to power machines of war and arcane devices; it’s a cure-all for minor injuries; and when injected or inhaled it is a highly addictive arcanogenic substance. The liquid itself comes in various hues, from violent pinks, to subdued blues and greens – each of which is described by the chemheads who become addicted to them as a different high. And so each of these hues is sought after to create weapons of war for the nations of the surface world; to sate the need to shoot up by the addicts that find themselves trapped in the boneyards by their addiction; and to delve deeper into the secrets surrounding sorcery by those who have the willpower or the wisdom to master such things. Godsblood, measured in micro-liters (µl) is the currency of the shattered lands, and many national or governmental currencies used to be held to a 'chem-standard' - now notes marked as worth thousands of micro-liters might really only hold the purchasing power of a single micro-liter of pure chem.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Godsblood is most commonly liquid, and very viscous. It must be stored in specially treated glass vials as it soaks into skin easily, and seems to have a mind of its own in terms of escaping containers - either eating away at the container itself, or else finding a way to become spilled. Godsblood is most stable, most valuable and most potent in its liquid form, but can be found as a solid, and in the city The City of Dim, or deep within the boneyards, as a sort of gaseous mist.
