The Serpent Supper
Deep in the marshes in the far east of the wasteland, a people known as the Glycon reside. The Glycon are known for many things: barbarism, witchcraft, fanaticism, but most importantly they are known for their admiration and unadulterated devotion to the serpents of the wasteland. While most serpents seem mundane some are the size of trees and almost all of them have been infected with the same mysterious virus that destroyed the old world. The Glycon believe the virus bestowed gifts to the serpents of the wastes. Giving them strength much greater than a human, Speed faster than a rabbit, and a hunger unmatched by any mortal creature in the wastes.
Every blood moon there is a ritual. The Great Feeding, a tithe to the Serpent gods, Ten men are fed to one of the great serpents of the marsh. And if the Serpent has laid its eggs it is seen as a gift from the serpent gods to the Glycon.
If eggs are in fact found a new ritual is then set in motion, The Serpent Supper.
Serpent Stew (known) Ingredients:
The eggs of a fed Serpent of the marsh
Weeping Angel moss
Lion's Mane mushrooms
Water
The Stew is boiled and left to ferment.
When the liquid begins to glow in the night the stew is ready.
Three of the Tribe's greatest warriors are adorned in snake scale robes and a crown of fangs around each of their heads. When the moon is high in the sky and the leaves in the trees make no noise the ritual begins.
The warriors are blessed by the tribe's shamen and instructed to drink the entirety of the stew.
Not much is known as to what actually happens when the drink is consumed. But the Glycon believe that those who survive the transformation process are blessed by the snake gods and become sworn guardians of the serpents of the Marsh and the Glycon themselves.
Settlements near the marsh report humanoid figures with greyish green skin stalking in the reeds from time to time. Claiming they dart to and from the cover of trees in fractions of a second. Patrols from the Wasteland Union instructed to investigate either find nothing or do not return.
