The Wasteland

You sit in a dimly lit tavern, listening fascinated to the tale of a gnarly old guy.   "Those Swiss bastards! You all know that it is their fault that our world looks like it looks today! That everything went to shit and that civilization broke down. We should have known earlyer... Politically neutral they said! HA! Fuck them!   Since their declarance of Neutrality, they were secretly building up the most massive arsenal any nation has ever seen. They waited patiently. They knew what they were doing. The world's money was not enough for them. They wanted more. They wanted to control everything. It happend in the year they called 2018 back then, nowadays known as year 0. The Canadians rebellion startet it all. They took Alaska from the Americans by force, OH they were NOT SORRY! Trump was so intimidated by their neighbours that he let 'em have it if they agree to respect their southern border from now on. The Canadians agreed. But their thirst and bloodlust was not yet satisfied. They looked over the pond towards Europe. They were not stupid tho, they knew that they could not take on the European Union on their own so they looked at a single small nation that was not part of them. Swizerland. The Canadians sent a couple Agents overseas and wanted to infiltrate the swiss government. They blew cover and the swiss showed their true face for the first time. Without declairing war, they started bombing Toronto, Vancouver, Montral and all the other big cities. So the war started. Oh had they known what they kicked off. Trump and Kim Jong Un tried to avoid the war. They tried to soothe the conflic but our heroes failed.   The war waged and the Swiss got cornered. They swore that they would not go down without taking every everyone with them. So they unleashed their arsenal. Over the span of mearly 12 minutes they shot 87 nuklear missiles into every corner of our world and unleashed a nuclear winter. The humans that survived lived in underground systems like bunkers. Some even survived in metro tunnels and similar facilities. The Winter lasted 20 years and the surface was uninhabitable for humans for another 80. Naturally, even the humans underground got exposed to some radiation and as evolution wanted, we adapted. Humans could survive in the wasteland 100 years after the war.
