Universe Rules

These are some of the house rules that pertain to the Welcome to the Virgo Cluster universe.    

Aliens

There aren't any. Well, none that are intelligent to the level of humans. The cluster is separated from Earth, no one even knows where Earth is, and with that, the only known intelligent species in the Cluster is humans.  
Never say never! But, currently, that's where we're at. It's possible there may be non-human intelligent species discovered or introduced at a later period, but for now, there's plenty of exploration and survival with the abundancy of humans.

Psionics

A given and embraced part of the game. There have been no suppressions and it is accepted that those who are gifted are just that. Of course, that doesn't mean that humans won't be humans. Emotions, like jealousy and contempt, will always be a part of the human life, so conflict revolving around the haves and the have-nots now might include psionics. Just another dimension to manage.
Yeah, so basically I'm replacing aliens (for me, hard to come up with "realistic" ways to play/manage them) with psionics (sure, some may not deem realistic, but what in science fiction is?). For what it's worth, I can envision psionics being part of the universe and since it's MY universe (well, at least the Virgo Cluster is) then I get to make the rules.
 

Ship sizes

  This could change, but I'm currently envisioning a maximum of 10 ktons for battleships. This will maintain manageable sizes without getting out of hand. Remember, this is a remote cluster, populated only by humans, so while there is conflict, it's not a major feature. It's much more localized and on a scale usually only involving a few worlds or less. In fact, there's quite a bit more conflict than one sees at first, but it's not against major outside agression. Think of it like the British Isles without Europe or the rest of the world. Plenty of internal disagreement and discord, but no external threat.
